Doing exceptionally well here at my end of the world. Looks like a ghost town here today with the SR message board having some tech problems, hope all are managing the best they can.
Hi all. I have been crazy busy with work, leaving now to go to the bank and then work another 8 hours. One nice thing about my job is that I keep busy...there is a lot of truth in the saying "an idle mind is the devil's playground". Not literal devil but devil of addiction for me.
Looks like this will be my last week of smoking, so that is on my mind as well.
Hope you all are doing well, and please don't follow my example and be so lax on posting in this thread!

Hi Alera,
Good luck w. quitting smoking. I've quit so many times... but it worked in the end. A lot of people find that the famous CRAVINGS... actually are barely there. It's like having a bad cold for a couple of days, but then... I was clear. And it was amazing - I couldn't believe how central this habit used to be to me. Before, I couldn't leave the house without smokes ("keys? wallet? phone?... cigarettes?"). I had to have them on me at all times. Then suddenly something I'd been doing every hour for about 15 years, I just didn't even think about anymore. Weird - like changing from right to left handed overnight, or something. Definitely worth it though.
and hello to all the other non-supernaturalists on SR too,
NL.

Got the script for my patches in my hot little hands. Now I will be bringing them down to the pharmacy and after my insurance approves them I should have them tomorrow, Monday latest.
I'm starting to plan my quit now.
How are the rest of you doing?

Good job Alera. Am OK. Nothing to report. All very quiet. My sister is about to have a baby, my first niece or nephew (they are kind of traditional about that and don't want to know ahead of time.) So I'm just hoping for a safe landing for passenger and crew.
good luck with the quit. You'll ace it.

nolonger, thanks for the luck. I am that weird kind of traditional too, I wouldn't want to know if it was a boy or girl until it was born. I'm looking forward to hearing which it was.
Sobermind, how did it go last night?

I though I'd try to revive the check-in thread. Lets see how it goes.
As for me, I'm at 8 & 1/3 months clean and sober . No major stress going on in my life. I'm going through a period of....how to describe this....emotional numbness sounds about right. I believe its a reaction to the PTSD symptoms that popped up not that long ago. Its familiar territory for me. My thinking becomes sluggish and I don't talk much. Ah well, I know to be on the look out for depression symptoms and to keep active in my recovery.
So what you say peeps, care to check-in?

Hey zencat, thanks for the update. Keep it up!
I too don't talk much. I actually think that is a good thing. There is too much frivolous talk IMHO.
I've been clean and sober over seven years now. Meditation is at the core of my practice in recovery.

Love the idea of a check-in thread!!!!!
Things have been very chaotic .... but I am in pretty steady shape today. As always there is way more to do than I can do, but i have a since of steadiness that was missing recently.
Sober for a little over a year now.:ghug
