You have the Power Sober Weekender Thread June 11....

Just shooed the guys out of the house. Son needs a lot of activity and some friends. He's had none this weekend. A lot of the cleaning I do is sorting and discarding. He can't really do that. Asked husband to take him to the park. Husband didn't want to because he said, son will complain about it after son sassed why can't I lay around all day? Dad does!
Husband goes out of his way to justify deny and defend what he does but he's not getting it. The kids are picking it all up like little sponges. When I was telling my son about people taking my card number and using it to steal stuff, he said "daddy doesn't drive by there, does he?" So son is absorbing that daddy isn't to be trusted around money and it's quite sad. I mentioned it to husband and then he lectured son about falsely accusing daddy. Our son knows his own truth and what he sees. Crap. I probably should look into alateen. We're going to need it

I just got back from my first sober beach vacation and it feels good. It's the same spot where I lost some accumulated sobriety a few years ago. Hang in there! I'll admit to a few tough moments, but the sober payoff has been worthwhile and it's not a mental hurdle anymore. You can do it! Wishing you the very best...have fun!

Ruby,
We had to take two cars to the beach last week and my 20 year old son road with me. I've known for some time that I wanted to have a conversation with him about alcohol, but I wanted to accumulate some sober time first. Well the opportunity was there and the timing felt right, so we talked a bit. I didn't share all the ugly details of my struggle and was careful to not be too preachy. I'm not naive and know he'll probably drink with his friends, but we talked some about the warning signs of things getting out of hand and my family's history of alcoholism. I pray that some of it soaked in.

Mark, I like the way this looks:

It's purple heart, red begonia, and the joseph's coat that you mentioned. I think that lime green is going to enhance all the colors
So I might look for the angelonia, lantana, and the chartreuse joseph's coat to put in the mailbox garden. And then carry over that chartreuse joseph's coat into my larger front walkway/porch area garden, along with the purple heart and the begonia.

Yes sir! That was today along the Eastern trail. Run several mile along the marsh and water. I just discovered it today after people at work talking about it.
My new favorite!
Had a great weekend... Thank you thank you for being here and making my belly hurt with laughter.

Looks great to me!
Check into the sunshine ligustrum if you are interested in a perennial chartreuse. I added it near our pool and it seems to almost glow in low light. I found it at Home Depot. It's part of the southern living plant collection.

Oh, I like it too
I could use both, the ligustrum and the joseph's coat.
That looks beautiful behind your little bench. Are those pink roses?
I just realized begonias are annuals
Too bad. They are so pretty. I don't want to make a high maintenance garden though, and we don't have a huge home for overwintering lots of plants. I wonder what other red flower I could use similar in size and looks?

so much I forgot- weasel I like that first pic a lot!
soberpotomus - net those bad boys!
I had chicken marinating all day, got a tater, corn, broccoli, chicken and one skewer of shrimp on the barby. Also made a dynamo salad. Now if I can pry the missus away from the computer - she is studying for the state board exam. I watched the birds going in and out of the cherry tree - they win.
But they're not getting any blueberries. They ate em all last year and the hail storm last may destroyed the cherry crop.
Time to ring the dinner bell!

Hey everyone! Hope the weekend was good!
Cleaned up entire backyard, cut down branches, cedars all nice etc.
catching up on 3 year of total procrastination was a lot of work. Tired, but feels awesome.
Onward and upwards my SR friends!
