I have read that Joan Rivers 5 dogs were all rescues
that she recently officiated at a same sex marriage in NY
she donated a lot of her time and energy to certain charities and groups before they were popular. I can't name them specifically, but there is a lot of information from people who are mourning her.
I have always admired her work ethic, i'm sorry i never saw her stand up show in person.
perhaps her and Robin Williams have teamed up now...I hope they make a youtube video for us.

Olive has it right PatMan.... No person left behind policy. I have been on NYC subway cars where we squeeze that last person on... It's like that!
And holy Molly is right batman... I mean patMan... The thread is a hopin!!!

I'll give up my seat patman - I drive the escort car with the 'HEAVY LOAD' sign on it and stay close behind.
Well, I knew it was inevitable. Just had my roof inspected. Need to put in a claim. Seems every house in the neighborhood is getting a new roof. I saw just a couple photos of where hail impacted the roof. Ouch! Inspires a tune...

Did Someone Say 'Floors'?
Welp, with the Telephonic Theme this Weekend, 'Switchboard Susan' by Nick Lowe/Rockpile seems a good Musical fit. Sly Lyrics linked below...

Switchboard Susan Lyrics
After hitting a near-record temp last Wednesday of 94 F, we awoke this morning to what I call 'Scotland Without The Airfare'. 48 F. Rain & Drizzle. Low Cloud Ceiling. Breezy & invigorating. Lovely, actually, since it's somewhat rare around here. I popped awake just after Midnight and shut down the Yard Sprinklers that had just automatically cycled on. Add this Water Bill savings to my substantial Liquor Store $$ savings.
Gotta love Flooring talk! When Designing/Building our Solar-run Retirement House, I went with polished Concrete Floors w/Throw Rugs. Build Foundation. Fill with 2 Semi Trucks of Sand. Flood with Water and level. Install rigid Insulation. Pour 6" of Concrete w/Radiant Floor Tubing embedded. We walk on tons of passively-heated Mass that reaches a temp and just coasts along. I haven't activated the Floor Heating yet because the Joint never drops below 50 F at night; even on -10 F Winter Nights. I'll get around to it... Heating now is via 2 small Space Heaters.
By paying attention to the Roof Eaves/Truss Calculations, the Sun in the Pic below streams in ~13.5' at Winter Solstice on 22 December. The Sun doesn't ingress past the South Door Thresholds at all at Summer Solstice on 22 June. Free Heat/Cooling. Yah, the Floor could have used a Wet Mop in this Pic. The Janitor allegedly had a Drinking problem.
Polishing the Floor w/a Commercial Floor Buffer was like riding a bucking Bronco. The proprietary Top Coat would 'set', and the massive Buffer would 'stick' and slam me into the nearest Wall. Tough work that I should have Sub'bed out to some Stud Muffin 'Kid'. Along with Super Insulation, the Joint is very comfy. I figgered we could change/add Floor surfaces over time as we like. Start simple. Though not visible below, there's highlights of Lavender and Copper green embedded; thanks to the Acid Etch.
The Pooch loves chasing a flattened Plastic Bottle. Chases it, and bats it around like a Hockey Puck. Surprisingly, the Floor is not very slippery and maintenance is a breeze. Especially with the Whole House Vacuum System I plumbed in. Thing could suck Chrome off a Trailer Ball.
Happy FAC to all: 'Fee_nominal Attitude Commiseration'!

Today is my six month anniversary. This week has been one of the more difficult. No reason, nothing bad happening in my life, to speak of. I have heard of a lot of sad and generally soul-sucking stories regarding relapses this week and that affects me way more than it should. I have great sadness for those who relapse. It's hard for me to read those stories and it is hard for me to hear the stories in real life. Four people who I befriended in AA and who I talked to regularly have all relapsed, one of them is in jail for the second time in three months for DUI. Her life is effed up in a major way. Two of the guys are brothers. One of them relapsed and took his brother with him in a couple months time. At least three of them had spent time in rehab. So. So. Sad.
This is a fatal illness. I'm not going with them. Their stories affect me - it could easily be me and I've spent a lot of time meditating and praying this week to fight off the demons in my own head. I really feel like I have to stay away from these stories - and I'm going to have to cut back my SR time - it gets to me.

BiMini.... We got you.... The stories can be upsetting but maybe use your in the moment coping skills. Or even compartmentalize these stories a bit more. Leave them where you heard them.
The thread has a lot of positive energy this week. I suggest you do a bit of soaking it up! 6 months is awesome!!!!!
Look at Mecanix comments... You can and will stay sober. It's available to you every day you want it.

I'm so depressed right now...I'm going to eat this huge chunk of cheese.
In my whole life on this planet, I have never ever wondered if I was adopted...I come from a small city, my dad is fairly well known around town because of his job, and people do say we look alike. So alike in fact, that I have had strangers stop me in the street and exclaim: "I know you! You are John's daughter!"
Today, we were out shopping and an elderly lady came up to us and said hello and had a brief chat with my dad...she then looked at me and said to my dad "is this your sister?"!! I guess she saw my face fall - on a one way trip, no expense spared ride, all the way to my boots - because she hurriedly went on "I just meant you are so alike, I knew you were closely related"...excuse me lady, go to Specsavers, there's no back-pedalling now!!! (I hope she needs glasses because I am only early 30s, dad is in his 60s!!)
Thank god that anti-wrinkle cream was on special offer...bought two jars!!!
Is that your dog MesaMan? So beautiful, and look at that intelligent, elegant face!

Poor lady. Don't get depressed because of that!
Like when the department store clerk comments to my mom and myself that we could be sisters....just buttering up my mom. At least, I think!
You look young and beautiful to us, Tetra!
MesaMan ~ I love how you did the floors and your home. Sounds wonderful, and your furry kiddo is sooo cute!
Tetra ~ Your dad is probably thrilled with this comment bc he thinks he must look that young. Other side of the same coin. It happens all the time with my daughter and me. I love it. My daughter used to hate it, but now she loves it, too.
Here's a funny story for you all. . . a few years ago my son and I were at the Macy's day Thanksgiving parade in NYC. We were having a blast, drinking coffee and making jokes - nothing inappropriate at all. . .just good old goofy fun. Some older lady came up to me and asked if I was a cougar. My son and I just stopped and stared at her for a moment, then I said "No, this is my son." She said she was so disappointed. LOL! We still laugh about that day.

Hi guys! I was wayyyyy out in the middle of nowhere last weekend - on the El Salvador/Guatemala border. As such, I didn't check in that much as my internet connection (not surprisingly) didn't give me much juice. Anyway, just wanted to share a picture of where I was last weekend, as I didn't get to last weekend!
