*Ring Ring* Weekender Thread Sept 5-7! Join us!
*Ring Ring* If you are new to SR you may have seen this at the end of some of the weekender threads or most recently on a post from Mecanix.
What does it mean?
In the words of Mecanix who just celebrated 3 years sober this week…
“The first bell is the bell of mindfulness, calling to me and you.
It says stop what am i doing right now, take some breaths, feel my body, am I holding it tight and tense? Relax… calm down… life is a journey and not a destination, make the journey as glorious as possible.
The second bell is the freedom bell and I'm ringing it for you to let you know freedom from drink and drugs is available to you, come and hear us calling out to you.”
That's some pretty good stuff right there. And three years is a good long time to have from your last drink.
When you are out and about this weekend. When drinking or drugging enters your mind. Ring your bell of freedom as loud as you can... In your head of course! And smile. Know you can make it though that moment. Know others have done it and now it's your turn. Maybe stop back here and share what you did to get through this weekend sober.
If for some reason you find yourself not on the sober end of things we want to hear from you. See what might need to be done to get through the next.
Last weekends thread was by far the biggest celebration of a sober holiday we have had yet. The music, pictures and stories were a lot of fun. Let's keep that energy going!
Welcome to your sober weekend team!

Sitting here drinking green tea and looking at job recruitment websites, and I came across this:

"Knowledge Manager" gave me a good giggle
Hope you are all having a happy Thursday!!

Ring ring! I am in on Page 1 this week, and will try to keep up with the thread!
My Dad was a librarian by training, but he had a variety of jobs which could be well-described by the term "knowledge manager." For example, he compiled a bibliography on nitrogen fixation by tropical agricultural legumes, and cataloged the artwork of Julian Ritter. Having a degree in library science seemed to give him a lot of freedom in finding work, and this freedom actually increased as computers replace books.
I am off Thursday and Saturday again this week but business at the hotel where I work has really dropped off since Labor Day. Hopefully I will soon be able to again work three days in housekeeping and two days doing garden work, and maybe get at least one of my days off in common with my wife.
I have been "ordered" relax today, so I will be spending a lot of time here at SR!
