I think my wife got a hold of my 4th step worksheet, and that is why she is quiet around me the last couple of days. I'm trying to do the right thing, and all I get is the wrong results.

I went to my 4th step meeting with my sponsor last night. He's asking me to do more things than I have time for in a week as a Dad and Husband. It's odd that one week I'm told not to leave anyone out of my inventory, then when I have over 120 items, I'm told to pray each one out 8 times. He expects that I will have memorized the prayer by next week, along with the 3rd step prayer. Maybe I'm just not that interested, I don't know. Being a known alcoholic to your friends and family is a lot like letting those same people know you are on a diet. It's like they look at you like they are waiting for you to relapse. that's why so many of the people my wife told about me look at me this way.

The mother of my niece (the ex-girlfriend of my brother-in-law) brought her daughter over tonight for us to "babysit" while she went to a meeting. Now that's awesome...I just got into a discussion with my wife tonight about addiction. I told her I'd like it if she would go to Al-Anon. She says she doesn't understand what the big deal about addiction is, and isn't going to go. As long as I'm controlling it, she has no need to go. It's my problem, I need to deal with it. As long as I stay away from alcohol, she's okay. I'm sorry, but my gut reaction is that this is a lot of pressure not to relapse. Wow, now I know where I fit in here....
