Hello everybody.
Welcome to club July 13, Nest.
Hope you'll call this home base.

Been very busy lately.
I did a brake job on the car over the weekend in preparation for a long drive.
We are planning to make the trek down to Florida this week. 1,400 miles one way.lol
So, I will be taking pictures and will try to post here so you guys and gals can come along with us.
Trip will include a stop at Disney and other theme parks.

BTW, I never would have attempted this if I were still drinking.

Thanks Dee,

It's not really a restful trip.
But, we are also checking out a college for my daughter.

Oh,it's going to be one of those vacations where you're more tired after it's over.
A lot of driving.

Ladybug, you want this so much. We are all here to support you. Have you ever seen some of the Women for Sobriety info and their 13 statements? I found focusing on one each day and journaling got me through some tough times last year. I also love the founder, Jean's story. She was an educated woman, and after getting sober through AA went back out and drank for another 13 years.

I know I felt I should be 'smarter' and 'know better' than to drink, and we all struggle with that. But this is addiction, it's not logical, it tries anything it can to make us continue the craziness. That certainly doesn't make YOU a bad person as such. It's such a shameful feeling that we could have somehow let this happen. Anyway, hugs Ladybug.xx

Thank you so much for this, Croissant. The last part about us "knowing better", etc is so true. I sometimes forget that this is an addiction, a disease, and still wonder how this happened to me. My parents weren't/aren't alcoholics. I guess this isn't necessarily always an "inherited" disease. Anyway, I AM tired of the shame and the regret and I'm scared that I'm just one drink away from something awful happening. Anyway, thanks again. Hugs back to you

Day 6

Thanks Crois , this is of interest to me also

That last sentence is so true Ladybug , you definitely could be one drink away from something awful happening.

It's a risk we take Everytime we take that drink.
Especially when we have our precious little ones who dont get to have a say.

I once gave my baby 4 times the paracetamol needed and I did that accidentally whilst sober.
Imagine what could have happened had I been drinking.

I can't even bear to think about it , but it's very real .
I know you want this darling one. We are all here to help you xxx

Thanks, Snooz. I'm feeling good today, despite the lack of sleep. Abby would not sleep in her crib last night for some reason (she usually does). She kept waking every hour crying. I would nurse her and rock her back to sleep, but the minute I put her in crib she would scream. She usually goes right to sleep. Finally brought her into bed with me, but it wasn't good sleep for any of us. Hopefully tonight will be better. Imagine how much worse I would feel if I was hungover?!! Blech.

How are you doing?? So happy for you that you are nearing a month again

Snooz, the muse has pretty much left me when it comes to Haiku! I am mostly a spectator and professional thanker now!

I wondered why Snooz was talking about Miss Bob...ok, I missed a heap of posts.

Enjoy your trip, Bob. I agree, I have to get up early on Monday and do a trek. And out of the blue today I remembered how much just the thought of that would have pissed me off when drinking, because I'd have to reign in my drinking at some point the night before to try and be somewhat sober so early in the morning.

tragic...
