I can't believe 2 years have gone by already.
Here it is Sunday morning. I used to wait till noon so I could run out and get my bottles for the day. Now I sit here, calm, peaceful watching a little preaching on TV .
Ice coffee replacing the drink that was slowly destroying me.
Instead of thinking about if I could sneak out later and go to the local pub.
I think about where I will take the pup for a nice walk.
All chores that used to sit undone or half finished are done.

Time that would have been spent drinking has now been put to good use.
I remember becoming angry while drinking about how hard it was to keep up with everything.
Now.....there is nothing to be angry at.

I love the people here. I could not have done this without you all.
And as I have said many times before how we are all spread out over this little blue and white marble called earth. I do feel a very strong bond with you all.

Take a little time to smell the flowers.
The flower garden has been a busy place today.

Beautiful pic Bob. Really gorgeous.

Casey, keep posting here...the journey is so worth it. I could barely believe it in the beginning when I was just keeping it together, stuffing my time with things other than alcohol. Those first few months after hard drinking are just a wild ride.

I forget how much of a mess I was. Unable to concentrate at work, periods of total clumsiness, dropping things, vision problems. My body was a total poisoned mess. Including my mind and how I thought. The fears that chased me about people suspecting I was a drunk....the nightmares.

Gosh....you really do forget how bad it was when your alcoholism is raging at full throttle.

Grateful I held on, even when it's been tough.

Hi everyone. What a lovely inspirational post, Bob!

I would like others' opinions on a matter. The fellow I've been seeing, we went to movie and dinner yesterday, is going to come to my house for dinner next Saturday. I imagine he would like red wine with the meal I plan. I have no desire to go to the liquor store to get him wine. Is it ok to ask him to bring his own bottle? I just don't know what is the appropriate thing to do? I have no problem with him drinking.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

I would just tell him the simple truth, "I'm looking forward to you coming to dinner next Saturday. I do not drink anymore so if you want some wine with dinner, do you mind stopping at the store and getting whatever bottle you prefer for yourself? Thank you."

Glad you've made a new friend, Leshar.

I wouldn't even ask him to get a bottle. Just make do with orange juice or whatever you have at your house. He may not even care to drink if you are not .

Thanks, Casey, I like your idea. Snoozy, he knows I don't drink. He's really into fitness and when we had dinner the other evening, he mentioned how he enjoyed a glass of Italian red wine with dinner as it's good for the metabolism. I don't get the sense he's a big drinker, but I will watch this, I won't tolerate this. He seems nice, but it takes a while to get to know someone. I know I will be nervous sans booze, but that kind of "confidence" is, I now know, unattractive anyway.
