I don't mean to sound rude or dense but WTH? I don't think I could swish anything in my mouth for 20 minutes (Fishy, watch it!) but oil sounds incredibly yucky. Tell me exactly the whys and the benefits of this, Plenny! Are you having specific gum problems or is this more of a preventative thing? Very curious here!

The Friday before Christmas
I hope everyone travels safe
And has a great sober time
Just remember temptations will be everywhere but we didn't leave anything in the bottle it's not for us. We start a new year week after next and I'm hoping this time next year we can all get together and say wow wasn't it fun doing 2014 sober together. And hopefully will pick up some new people and some of our old friends will show back up.

Merry Christmas

Thank you fishy! Such a nice thought for all of us.

Merry Christmas to you too.

We are making a whirlwind trip tomorrow and back Sunday, for mil's bday and to meet the new baby in the family. It was sort of a last minute think that I and the kids are going. Kids are not invited to grandma's party(which I find odd, but I was not involved in planning) so we had a child care dilemma. But that has worked out and we will all go out for one night. 5 hour drive each way.

Right now, I have no feelings of being tempted to drink. Not sure why, but I just do not. The last drinking experiences I had were disappointing and ruined my sleep, even if I am not drunk. It really does not agree with me at all, especially after some sober time. I lose tolerance, for it, really. Preferring to feel well is finally seeming to have sunk in! Not sure how the old AV ever convinces me otherwise.

Okay I was wondering can you just use the Coppertone coconut lotion you get the added benefit that you wouldn't burn the roof of your mouth

Grace -- apparently this old Ayurvedic technique centers around the idea that the health of our teeth and gums determines the health of the rest of our bodies.
The oil swishing around in our mouths pulls toxins from our gums and teeth. Coconut oil is anti fungal and has lots of other health benefits. This is also supposed to help clear up the skin and whiten the teeth.
We'll see!
If you want to try it I'd reconnect googling it a bunch and make a regiment that works for you--

There's a few rules:
-Do it first thing in the morning, before drink or food
-Do not swallow ever
-Swish for 15-20 minutes to get best results, but no more in case you start re absorbing toxins
-Spit oil out into a trash can, coconut oil can clog
-Rinse with warm salty water
-Brush with a different brush
-Brush again with your usual brush

It's funny because I usually hate high maintenance routines but I know I need to work on my dental health.

No specific ailments here but I don't want any!

Howdy folks. I had a few urges today. My parents are coming up for a week on Monday and there is a little voice in my head saying, "Drink now before they get here!" It's not very loud though, and I'm getting better at dealing with that annoying little voice. I know what kind of hell the whole drinking thing leads to. My body is only now starting to recover from some of the past abuse. Months later. It's only 30 days today but it's been over 100 days that I've been mostly under control. I'm sure at 10pm when I'm good and sober and starting to get tired I will love the fact that I didn't drink.

It's a little disappointing though because the urges to drink were pretty much gone until today. Oh well.

I've got most of my shopping done but I still need to stuff some money in a card and send it to my brother in the morning. I have a fairly large extended family all over the country that I've been skipping sending presents to for years and my sober self considered sending them all something this year. But I can't afford it and they don't send me anything either. Maybe next year.

We are supposed to have a big ice storm here this weekend, so I'm worried I might lose power and it will get damn cold in here if that happens.

WB Lor. I liked reading your posts Diesel.

I had urges to drink for a long time past 30 days UI - I ended up treating them not as disappointments but reminders that I'd drunk for many years, and I needed to stay on my guard and let the process of change into Dee vers 2.0 continue.

Eventually they died off. I really can't remember my last one.

Hey Br00ksie

I found this site by googling sobriety websites. It came up with a whole bunch of forums including the "top 10 sobriety sites". What does that mean ? How do they rank something like that ? Anyway, I saw the massive number of members on this forum and started to read the threads. Something clicked and I thought I needed support and I was open to trying anything ! So, here I am !

I kid you not. People have gotten pretty creative with this little fella.

Santa's little helpers need love too!

UI, you have turned a big corner, it seems. You sound really grounded and solid. I am happy for you.
