Matt ~ toots advice is right on point.. And please, please don't wallow and get yourself caught up in the "poor me's"... As tanja said, this truly can become a blessing and be one of the best things that could've ever happened.. Its all in H.O.W. you deal with it...

We aren't perfect. We were taught the Golden Rule when we were young, but practiced it with mixed success. I continue to tread on other's toes and hearts with regularity, not because I am mean, but because I can be insensitive at times.

Now in recovery I am learning to be more thoughtful, caring, and responsible in my actions, but at the same time, I have to intimately understand the meaning of forgiveness. Practicing forgiveness ~ both accepting and giving it ~ removes so much of the anxiety and tension from my relationships.

My need for forgiveness does not signify failure. Asking for forgiveness brings me closer to my God and others. The walls of my actions often create come down when I am willing to become vulnerable and say, I am sorry please forgive me. Two minds and hearts may be quickly joined and find healing in the most intimate exchange.

Life is a adventure in forgiveness. ~ Norman Cousins

Good love , Happy..

HI folks still sober, but things might be looking up. I talked to a Headhunter for a temp to permanent position with a large company. Then she called back and said that they saw my résumé and are trying to find me something permanent.

Hi my lovely Undies

Firstly, thank you for all your p.m's, I'm totally overwhelmed, I wasn't expecting that. You lot are so caring, thank you, I didn't realise just how much I've missed you until I saw them all. It will take me a few days to catch up but I will reply to you all just as soon as. It really means a lot to know you care, more than you can know! Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you also to my friends who were also sending a search party out for me on F.B. You know who you are, HD3, lol. Thanks. xx
I'm sorry I didn't get chance to tell you that I was going away for a few days, it wasn't planned and it was such short notice that I didn't get chance to let you know and I can't use the Internet on my phone, I just can't, my phone is old and decrepit. My daughter's mother in law invited me to go to her new static caravan by the sea in Wales, with our shared g. children and my boy, for a long week end, well from last Thursday. I'm fine, I'm sober and I enjoyed it, it was just what I needed and the weather was kind to us too. I did draw the short straw and had to go on the roller coaster with the children, not once, but twice, can you imagine? My knees were knocking when I got off!

My Dad is deteriorating rapidly, he's very confused and very bad on his legs, I can't see it going on for much longer before we need some sort of respite care. Things with my son are quiet, for now, the calm before the storm I'm guessing, but we'll deal with that one when it happens.

My O.H has bought me an all singing, all dancing Kindle, so hopefully I will be able to get on here a bit more through that, when I've figured it out. I've just got it on charge right now.

I'll go back and read all your posts when I've finished here. I did glance at them quickly and Melvin, I lurrrve your tattoo! Matthew, I'm so sorry to hear about your job, but my Grannie used to say, 'As one door closes, another one opens' and she was right every time!

I will be back tomorrow.

Sleep well

Gxxx

Just for Today: I will make a commitment to include a regular inventory in my new pattern of living.

I'm not on here all he time but have found SR invaluable to my recover so like to check in now and again and wanted to join the thread. I used to feel envious but also inspired reading these so it's nice being back with 7 mths under my belt and it's great to see others also doing so well. Especially Stevie a fellow brummie with a week on me!

Long day. I'm tired as heck, but stayed busy today and I'm thankful for that. Day 13 no weed and day 113 no alcohol is about over. And I'm off to bed... exhausted.

6.30 and just getting ready for work.

Bloody Hell HD3, how did you know that? Thank you, 38 again is such a good age to be, lol.

Thank you DG, it's good to be back. I hope you get some rest, my day is just starting. You're doing well with the no weed and of course the no alcohol. Keep doing what you're doing, you're doing it well.

HI Alex, welcome to the Undies and 7 months under your belt is a marvelous achievement. Great to have another U.K member in the thread too.

Thanks Dee, well I thought I did, but I can't keep anything secret from this lot.

I best move my backside rapidly, work is calling.

Stay safe, clean and sober.

Gxx

Matthew, good luck with the possibility of a new post already! It certainly sounds good, and with one after you so quickly, ow is the time to get that resume out and about on line and in the post. I hope you are feeling more positive about your future. I do know what it's like to have the rug pulled out from under, but I aslo know blaming yourself does nothing towards getting a new job, so kudos to you for getting yourself back out there so soon.

YAY!!!! Grace is back and all is right with the world!! Next time you are on roller coaster duty call me, I luuuurve the scary rides!! Hope the kindle gets you back on line more often, we miss your regular posts, so life affirming and supportive.
Sorry to hear about your dad, I hope you manage to get care organised.
Happy birthday from another tough old bird!!!

Hi Alex, good to see you, and 7 months is fantastic. Another brummie, that's two contacts for my cross border scratchings smuggling business!! ( I doubt that will translate outside of the midlands!!)

HD3 I live by the ethos, ' do unto others as you would be done by'. Like you I have caused unintentional pain, and found that having the humility to own my wrongdoing, goes a long way to regaining trust, and rebuilding bridges. W can often find it easier to blame ourselves and feel guilt, but that is inward looking and centres on the self. To actually take responsibility for righting the wrongs of our actions takes an ability to be more outward looking, and a desire to change.

Carlos, reading your quote regularly will only ever strengthen your commitment. I hope that things are going well with you.
Steve, how's work going? Are the family still away?
Soberjim, how are you doing? Your posts are brief, though I'm not complaining, it's wonderful to know you are still around!!!
Pete, Nicky, s&S hope you are all doing well.
Undies, if I miss you it is my old bird brain and I grovellingly apologise for the oversight!
Hey Dee wassup!!

Hi, Undies!

Sorry, haven't posted much lately. No excuses for me for abandoning my favourite Undies!

My additional education is completed, got my certificate, so now I am looking for a new job. Wish me luck!

So many great events and milestones here! How could I miss all that?

Grace - so glad you are posting again, my friend. Glad you had an unplanned vacations, change of scenery is always great.

Happy Birthday! 2 I didn't pm you while you've been away, but I'll try to make up for this with my little BD congrats:

Happy Birthday, dear Grace!
Let this day be free of life-storm.
All the kindness you embrace -
Let it wrap you and keep warm!

Lucky us - to have you here!
And be blessed with your support.
Happy birthday, Gracie, dear!
Land your day at windless port.

You are so daring fighter
You are never losing heart.
Wish your star will shine just brighter
Every day with every start!

Toots - Gym is great, thanks for asking) And boxing classes are good as well, I am making progress. Though accidentally hit my trainer on the forehead. Such a shame! And scratched skin on my knuckles because of working too hard on a heavy bag)

Melivin - Congrats on 6 months! Great achievement! And I just love your tattoo!

HD - thank you for your inspiring posts! They always give me food for thought.

Tanja - My friend, I am late with my congrats on you 1 YEAR of sobriety! But better late, I think! That's just awesome how you managed to keep your sobrity going through a lot of stress. My hugest congratulations to you! . And I think I never told that you look gorgeous!

IWLSAST - Welcome to the thread!

Jim - how are you doing?

Matthew - sorry about your job. But you are doing amazingly well under the circumstances, I should say! You are proactive, and what's most important - you don't drink! You are going through a big test now, stay strong. It's natural that you worry, but don't let worry to derail you from your path. If you are a good specialist in your field you will find a job, there's always shortage for skilled pros in the market. Best luck to you!

Stevie - is that you on the pic?)))

And my best wishes to all the Undies!

Have a great day)

Midnight...great post.. You have a way with words. Congratulations on finishing your education and best of luck in your job hunting.

Grace - what can I say, except HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY...38 is not old..(lol) (I wish I was 38 again)...Sorry to read about your Dad...Hang in there..

Toots, still here...am doing ok and am on track...Feel good mentally and physically..Going to take a 5 day week end starting tomorrow. No plans except to exercise each day, spend some quality time with my better half and have an anniversary lunch with her in a seaside town...Best fish and chips ever (no alcohol)...24 years married..time flies. I am fortunate she has put up with me...I am a lucky guy..(see I can't be 38 yrs old unless I got married at 14...I was however not a whole lot older than that when I did.. so my age is a mystery..)

WWG..lots of support..you will get through, even stronger I believe.

Tanja ...hoping you still post here even though you have 'graduated'..

Hope everyone has a safe and sober Wednesday.

Jim
