Memorial Day Weekender 26th - 29th May
I want to be well guys. Like the song says may it make take a little time to come undone will try to stay blind into who do you need who do you love when you come undone.
I don't know any of those things I just want to be free and stop being undone by this behavior slag disease.

For me the bottom line was making different choices SAH.
It was difficult for me not to resort to a bottle at times but I thought I owed it to myself to at least try another way.
Gradually I learned I was a lot more capable and likeable than I'd ever given my self credit for - but I'd hid that part of me every time by getting wasted.
Give yourself the chance for the real you to re-emerge SAH

Morning everyone, coffee time
Sah, you have not hurt anyone with your post, everyone can see how hard you are trying. Once you get some sober time behind you it might turn out that perhaps you don't hate yourself after all. Just do whatever it takes to not drink today and take it from there.
STDragon, I was the same and those thoughts occaisionally cross my mind, six months is long enough to forget some of the horrors. Half an hour on the main Newcomers thread usually banishes those thoughts.
I think it is going to be another scorcher here today - 18C/64F already (7.30am)

Hi, weekenders. .
I am doing my best to decompress after this one hell of a week.
I am officially on 2 weeks vacations now. Though I will have to take care of things related to my new job.
The boss is on the black list on my phone and my health is #1 priority now.
I've just popped in my apartment - new wallpaper looks great!
Time for another round of coffee and then.... I will decide.
See you)

I love this attitude:

Good Morning everyone!
SAH, so glad to see your posts and of course we are with you! I'm glad you're going back to AA.
Julia, thanks, it was truly a set of giggles.
Welcome to all the newcomers! This can be a rough weekend. Long weekend, kind of a celebration in the US as it's thought to be the start of the beginning of the summer season. Hand in hand with that goes alcohol.
Today I am grateful for all the things I have planned to do. If I were still drinking more than half the weekend would be spent nursing a horrific hangover that certainly wouldn't be worth whatever pleasure I thought I got from drinking.
Off to a birthday party today for my niece's daughter then continuation of a binge of the final season of Bloodline on Netflix. Tomorrow is volunteer work, sponsor meeting, another birthday party for another niece's son and then set up of an AA meeting. Plenty to do!
Ken, good to see you, we will definitely have to connect some point for coffee. I hope you enjoy your vacation,
STDragon, glad you went to the doctors and hope you have some answers soon.
Off to make out the grocery list and to get there at 7. I want to be in and out before the camping weekenders converge!
Have a great day everyone

Thank you Glimmer, they are pretty good. My mum is described as "stable" and I feel I have done what I could so I am at peace with myself as far as that goes.
Enjoy the Birthday party LadyBlue.
I have just seen something hilarious, an Irish Setter just leaped into the canal for a swim only to have a nearby swan take extreme umbrage at his presense and drive him back on to the towpath. The setter looks really crestfallen like Wile E. Coyote after a failure.

Thinking of you SAH, hang in there.
Sao, your pictures remind me of Winnipeg in 1950. (This is why Duff's ditch was built).

Good morning eveyone!
I love long weekends. They were difficult in the beginning because I had too much free time to think about alcohol. Now I fill the time with all sorts of sober and fun activities and really enjoy the weekends.
I'm going to a zoo this morning and may go to the lake tomorrow.
Weasel....enjoy your vacation. Stacation? Sounds heavenly. You too, midnightblue.
Sao...I'm glad to hear that your Mom is doing better.
ok..have a great Saturday everyone.

We had a setter do a similar thing many years back. Spotting a pelican on the water, the silly dog thought he'd swim up and say hi. Three pokes on the head from that large beak was enough to convince him and back he came.

The regents canal was built to satisfy London's voracious appetite for coal at the beginning if the 19th century. Unfortunately for its owners the railways were invented soon after completion but coal barges, although slower, could carry a lot more so it survived but was not the financial bonanza its owners were hoping for.
For many years - up until the mid 1990s it was semi derelict and the haunt of drug users and dealers. You would not have seen me running along the towpath.
