Welcome to Weekenders BronzeMist and well done
Hope you have fun Jen, i'm sure you will
Struggling to get going this morning, not unusual for a Monday, I just feel like pulling the duvet over my head and going back to sleep.

I feel like that every morning Sao ,
Having had 5 years retired 03-08 I know what i'm missing and it is hard to make one foot go infront of the other and do this time wasting affair we all busy ourselves with .
Especially as 60% of it seems ineffectual . I do try to achieve one positive thing every day and justify my claiming their attendance allowance .
Coffee time ,

So I had to go to the A&E today. Minor finger wound, could have been major. Now I look like a cartoon character with one finger bandaged up and throbbing.
Whilst I was there, the doctor came into the very busy waiting room to call next patient and shouted 'Ali... Ali Muhammad.'.
'Wait ...Is your name Ali Muhammad..???'
Hard not to smile ..

Today is a bank holiday so I'm going to laze around for a bit.
My parents will be 43 years married tomorrow. 43 years. Imagine.
My mother said to my dad over breakfast: "would you marry me all over again?" He said "yes of course". Then looked at us and said "I didn't come down in the last shower. You won't catch me out that easily". My dad is quiet like me but he can be so funny.
I gave him the father's day card with the bottle of whiskey on the front. (I know its not until next week but my brother is here now so we had a dinner yesterday.) I just explained that I read the lovely poem and the picture didn't even register with me, and no, it's not a sign that I am thinking about drinking.
My dad got a bit teary when we read what I wrote, and my mom told me "you bring a lovely atmosphere into the house".
Add that to the fact that she told me on the phone the other day that she loves me, and I don't know what to think.
I do care about her too. It's just the smothering that gets me...

Happy Monday everyone.
Thanks to SR and this thread and all of you for being here.
During this weekend here I managed, amongst other things, to admit that I grow terrible radishes and am ineffectual at minor car repairs.
I also did not drink - which has got me through to today...
... which, for me, marks one year of sobriety
Go well everyone
Fradley

Happy Monday All! Congrats to everyone hitting a milestone! Beings that I'm just on Day 39 (I think...kinda lose count), it's super encouraging to me and it helps remind me that I can do this! I was super excited to hear someone mention that people continue posting on this thread throughout the week...I'm in (lol)! Well, it's off to work for me!
Trees-glad to hear you're ok!
Bodhi- Have a safe trip! Enjoy!

Good morning everyone!
Congratulations on one year, Fradley!! Woo hooo!
The weather just turned frightful here, and I just want to go back to bed and sleep all day. But work awaits. So up I got. Did manage a full 8 hours of sleep - first time in a couple of weeks I didn't toss and turn half the night. I guess that's my mind telling me I made a good decision about Handyman. At least I hope so.

Good morning fellow travelers.
I went to take a nap yesterday afternoon and didn't fully wake up until this morning, what's up with that?
Lying in bed for so long has my back really hurting.
I hope I can get caught up.
Have a great day everyone.

SU, stretch a little for your back. Sometimes I think we just need to listen to our bodies and yours was telling you that rest was needed.
Bodhi my travel section in the paper yesterday had a brief article about finding the best buttermilk biscuit in Savannah. I'll have to look at it later. I love biscuits.

Awoke to an extremely crabby husband. I responded with some anger, but after a bit realized that anger isn't the way to go. So, I sat with it and slowly it has ebbed away. Feeling grateful that I can come here and share. And hubby has left for work! Yeah!
