Best stream of consciousness camping report evah.

Good luck, brynn. Break a leg, or whatever is the PC thing to say to someone taking the test.

Party with Mesa on Friday after he cashes the check.

I got nothing. Just more raptor stories, but I'm thinking enough already.

Glad you're back and still sober, Brain!

Hi Sao!

Personally, I like the raptor stories. I think they're cool.

Behan....I get scared really easy. When I was little my brothers used to torment me saying our house was built on an Indian massacre site. I still sleep with half the lights in the house on!

Hippo...dishes are one of my weaknesses! I buy dishes everywhere I go...antique shops, flea markets, department stores. Hope yours arrive in all in one piece!

My day is kinda Guano...a few more hours and I can head home. Yay.
Ruby, lucky you, having a vacation. I love days off.

They arrived packed well, Brynn. Thankfully there are no chips, cracks, or flaws. They are gorgeous and I'm thrilled. The pictures I've just hung behind the dining table match them well. Now I'll get a linen table runner, matching napkins, and ... well, at that point, I'll cool it for a while and save up for glasses I have the glasses all picked out. But that will be another splurge down the road.

BRAIN! That was the best ever report. I loved it! I also love that Weasel spoiled your drinking for you. Hah!!! You can blame him I'm sure he wouldn't mind on this one front.

SoberP, pictures of the plates. We want to see. Show and tell.

Brynn, good luck on the GRE. I took it centuries ago. No, wait. Decades ago. It was tough but you've been studying. Go Brynn!!!!

HaF, we should all plot to take days off on a weekend one of these days. I'm off next Thursday and Friday as well. I need to use days or end up losing them, which I did last year.

I remember reading about guano in a college history course - South America. Chile seized Peru's guano producing islands at some point. Good luck with the packing, MM.

Brain, relax and put your feet up. I think after that recitation, you certainly deserve it.

Ok. Now your innocent question of "what is guano" has the history major in me looking at stuff. You all drive me crazy because you say something and I just have to know...The Chincha Islands War (Spanish: Guerra hispano-sudamericana) was a series of coastal and naval battles between Spain and its former colonies of Peru and Chile from 1864 to 1866. The conflict began with Spain's seizure of the guano-rich Chincha Islands in one of a series of attempts by Spain, under Isabella II, to reassert its influence over its former South American colonies. The war saw the use of ironclads, including the Spanish ship Numancia, the first ironclad to circumnavigate the world.

So - there have been wars over many things, including bird poop. How apt.

thanks all, I'd like to say it's good to be back home, but I'd be lying.
As much as I need a rest I could've spent another week hiking around acadia. So we HAD to get up at 4 AM to see the sunrise on top of cadillac mountain. I took about 200 pics maybe. I set the handycam on a tripod and just let it go for about 40 minutes. One day I'll figure out how to post videos and edit same.
And I don't have any fancy photo software - that I spent the time to figure out...

this is when sun first made appearance at 4:58+ AM through the clouds.

I took one photo of "camp" to prove we actually slept in a tent. Had venison on grill 2 nights in a row. Didn't catch a keeper fish so we went vegetarian after.
Had home grown zukes to cook every day...

Ruby, they are from the Portmeirion Botanic Garden collection. I totally fell in love with it when I saw it. Very "cottage-y" I thought.

Do you see one of my pictures on the left side, Brynn? They match almost perfectly. It's as if they were made to match this set! I couldn't believe it when I saw them in the thrift store. It's a set of four different flowers that look just like the Botanic Garden dishes.
