Hello B. You are the orbital centre of awesomeness.
BTW- Kong has a VERY LOUD VOICE[SIZE="[/SIZE]
I thought of starting a KRAP thread, but perhaps a little flighty. Alcohomolism is a very serious thing that needs great things and somethings.
BUT- I think the agenda should include banana bread.
I get weird when I miss my sons- apols.

Well....day 24 and still on an emotional roller coaster with a HUGE fear of alcohol but I guess that's good....I SHOULD be afraid! Alcohol kills people & will kill me if I were to resume drinking.

I stayed up too late watching a new TV show I discovered and now I'm dragging. Oh well...better than drinking.

Love you guys. Have a great day!

Day 24.

Ugh....here we go.........

Our oldest son (who is a senior in high school) went to visit his cousin (who is a freshman in college) last night and we let him stay the night in her dorm. This is the college HE will be going to next fall. Well he came home hungover. Ugh! He's 18 & his cousin is 19 and they went to a party and drank a bunch.

I know I did that when I was his age but I'm NOT ready for HIM to do it. I also worry because we have alcoholism all over my side AND my husband's side. I HATE ALCOHOL!

Having kids was so much easier when they were babies! I'm so worried about when he goes to college next fall. Help.......,

Try not to freak out too much, Kiki. Have you talked to your son about the dangers of overconsumption of alcohol? Perhaps he already understands to keep it in perspective and will be a normal drinker or a nondrinker.

I had the exact same experience when I was checking out schools, right down to staying in my cousin's dorm with her roommates and having beer. I did develop into a problem drinker and then an alcoholic but much later. That experience had no impact on what I would later become as a drinker.

Perhaps this is not helpful, but remember, he has you to learn from and from whom to receive guidance. Maybe talk to him today, if you haven't already, about the whole thing. Ask how he felt then vs. now. That might give you a better idea of where he is in terms of risk level and allow you counsel him?

Okay I'm doing what I tell other people to do when they are struggling. I'm putting my hand up. I need help. I feel tired of fighting, I feel "cured", I feel like I am slipping. That's a lot of feelings.

Day 98...feels like day 1

Sam I wish I had magic words. You're going through the plight of us alcoholics. The old hag AV is something we all have to deal with at times.

Be strong!!! Don't give in!!! Alcohol will not make anything better!!!

Sam, I know you can do this because you are doing it. Try to play the tape through. Keep your eye on the prize that is sobriety. I'm no expert with my track record, but I do know that people feel better shortly after these types of struggles.

Maybe go to Newcomers to remind yourself of why you quit. Maybe try to help some of those people to occupy yourself. Just a couple of thoughts.

Soon you'll have 100 days. Stay the course, we believe in you.

samantha14 - here for you
If you visualised your progress as a pathway, what would this section of it look like?
What would be beyond this section?
Is there anything you need, or don't need, to bring with you for this part of the journey?
Be kind to yourself xx

Thanks for the support....having this place and you guys to lean on makes all the difference.

Caramel - those are some great questions. I guess this part of my journey would be gravelly and hilly....maybe with a big curve coming - the kind where you can't see what's beyond it. And I feel like it's probably raining and cold. As for what I would bring with me....not sure...how do you plan for the unknown?

Sorry if that sounds dismal...just where my brain is right now.

❤❤

samantha - do you have any "treats", small, medium and large, planned for the next hour, day, week, months?
Something to pamper yourself with, nourish body, mind and spirit?
Even tiny chores that mightn't be essential but will make your days brighter knowing they are part of your routine and done?
And, Day 98! You are doing so well!
I am just making you a cup of virtual hot chocolate, with a bit of whipped cream on top and a little shake of cinnamon
Take care xx

Hugs Sam! I can't think of anything that we already haven't heard or said....try to focus on how you would rather feel tomorrow.....it sounds like the AV is sneaking its way in....try to ignore it!

Checking in on my phone so II'll catch up with everyone a little later....decided to spoil myself with a pedicure & I'm thinking about going to the drum circle at the beach....a relaxing way to finish the weekend!

If you're really feeling on edge, this is always a good link: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-cravings.html

CarolD knew her stuff and this is one of the best though she post it herself.

I'd do well to utilize these a bit more myself, but here are a few others that I have bookmarked and frequently check:

I'm doing okay. Just breathing though it one day, one minute, one second at a time.
