Sam - thanks for sharing the journal entry. Not being numbed by alcohol will help you settle in to your authentic self. I'm thinking the feeling a fraud bit stems from your growing up, but also how you've learned coping mechanisms. Healthier coping equals healthier you. And happier you. Proud of the work you're doing on yourself. You are definitely worth it.

Sam thanks for sharing! It is strange how things fall into place much easier when we give sobriety a chance. I've noticed that too. Time for us to meet the real us!!!

So glad to see you all here.....it's been nice without the television. Got some reading done. Definitely have some education to catch up on!

Sam- I panicked. I ran, sweating.

And yes- my toilet is still there. I has got one of thems fangled flush buttony things on top- 2 mind!

Very sore. My little right arms (the fried one) is very sore. Considering I have few nerves on it- I will remember this classes sage advice of taking it easily today. I am also, suddenly very tired. Got orientation with staff soon.

1335 Thursday. When leaving the loony site all the day staff gathered, I could not think why. I was presented with my 'graduation' paper. Silly- but very significant.
Does any one else here have one of thems toilets? Folks 'round these parts have pretty fancy ways. A way to use their fancy parts. Then they are flushed with success after being bowled over.

Of course, all of us alcoholics had a lot of fun with drinking. We might as well admit it. We can look back on a lot of good times, before we became alcoholics. But the time comes for all of us alcoholics when drinking ceases to be fun and becomes trouble. Have I learned that drinking can never again be anything but trouble for me?

Meditation for the Day

I must rely on God. I must trust Him to the limit. I must depend on the Divine Power in all human relationships. I will wait and trust and hope, until God shows me the way. I will wait for guidance on each important decision. I will meet the test of waiting until a thing seems right before I do it. Every work for God must meet this test of time. The guidance will come, if I wait for it.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that I may meet the test of waiting for God's guidance. I pray that I will not go off on my own.
You are an inspiration

Sam - thanks for sharing that. I'm sure there's more than a few of us here that can relate. Get to know yourself and love yourself. A pretty good motto for all of us.

Have a great night everyone. Get some rest when you can PJ.

Sam- I agree with MITA. To challenge the depths of the soul takes honesty and hard work. You show courage and trust in sharing. Thankyou,

Had me orientation. Read the riot act. No booze (der), no visitors, no socialising outside my room on the street with passing loonies. That may be a bit hard- might have to smoke outside sitting in a large cardboard box, so I am not seen. Just e-m the ex with new details. I accept all this now. In a sense- moving here has allowed me to make the mind shift. A completely new environment.
I just cooked my first hot meal. The first in many months- safe here. No one to steal food, I do not have to use pots/pans etc which people who do not flush toilets . Everything is clean. No one asks to borrow stuff- food, etc. Up 'till today any food was either raw fruit/veg- or wraps.

To all-

thnaks

Good morning!

PJ - congrats on your new place. It's sounds very nice. So happy for you, enjoy

Sam, thank you for sharing that piece of your journal. Wish I could journal like that! You've come such a long way. I've said it before, but I'll say it again ... really proud of you!!

Day 8 here. I have a meeting tonight and then tomorrow night my daughter has her first swim meet (inside, of course), but Sat night just looms ahead. It will be day 10 (when a lot of my slips occur) and it's a Sat night. Need to come up with a plan.

Hope everyone has a wonderful, sober Thursday!

Welcome, Advalove.

Phoenix - My toilet has a handle on the top of the tank. No fancy handle. Look at you! Although, being in America, I think our toilets have more water than yours.

Sam- Thanks for sharing your journal entry. My son read his journal from rehab the other night. It was pretty powerful. Keep at it. I like authentic Sam.

BBG - Hey!

AK - hope you're doing great with all your littles.

LB- Your avatar is awesome!

CH - Hope you really enjoy your days off. Take care of you.

Purple - I should try no TV night. Lol - after I finish Scandal on Netflix. Priorities.

MITA- How are you adjusting to your new digs?

Spacegoat - McGregor vs. Mayweather. Kind of excited about this.

Pelagic - hope you get back at it.

Dee - hope your days are going great. thanks for always being here.

kiki - not good when you're silent. we miss you.

PR - have a great day. How many days until your husband gets home?

Jemma - love when you check in. makes my heart warm.

Everyone else - have a fantastic Thursday!

Thought for the Day

One drink started a train of thought that became an obsession, and from then on, we couldn't stop drinking. We developed a mental compulsion to keep drinking until we got good and drunk. People generally make two mistakes about alcoholism. One mistake is that it can be cured by physical treatment only. The other mistake is that it can be cured by willpower only. Most alcoholics have tried both of these ways and have found that they don't work. But we members of A.A. have found a way to arrest alcoholism. Have I got over my obsession by following the A.A. program?

Meditation for the Day

I will try to be unruffled, no matter what happens. I will keep my emotions in check, although others about me are letting theirs go. I will keep calm in the face of disturbance; keep that deep, inner calm through all the experiences of the day. In the rush of work and worry, the deep, inner silence is necessary to keep me on an even keel. I must learn to take the calm with me into the most hurried days.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that I may be still and commune with God. I pray that I may learn patience, humility, and peace.
