One Year & Over Part 40
Hey, FTG, sounds like a lovely meditation.
Rusty, yes I think that was Toots whizzing by ... at least it sounded like her broomstick
Hi IP, nice to see you! Canada is a great country so I'm always happy to cheer her athletes.
Suze and Mags
FBL, I can't wait for cooler weather!
Hi Andy.
Have a lovely day to all

Toots - Good to see you practicing your Spanish!
In Par - Congrats on the new job, and the professional fulfillment it offers. Happy for you.
Fartogo - I'm intrigued by your mindfulness retreat. That sounds so interesting. At my AA home group the other night the subject came up of how many alcoholics report a constant whirlwind of thoughts. One of the longtimers said something interesting - his racing thoughts haven't gone away, but he's learned how to be at peace with it while it's happening.
Gratitude is a powerful tool. I love how you were able to capture it in the story about driving in the storm.
Treerat - I've found that some people who were a large part of my life in active addiction just aren't good for me in sobriety. I found that getting involved in some recovery stuff while I built and nurtured healthier relationships helped prevent isolation.
I've got a few errands to run this morning. My big project for the day is to cook meals for the week. It makes for a lot less work and clean up during the week. Be well Overs!

Plus I think, at least for me, as I get healthier, it's not surprising to notice new weeds that need yanking.
And as hard as it is, I do find gratitude in these situations - for having the tools to yank them instead of watching them take over, grow out of control, and choke out the healthy stuff.

I heard very sad news today; a friend of mine who got sober just over a year ago, sadly took his own life a few days ago . He, like me, was estranged from his spouse. He is survived by his two young children. Terribly sad...
... makes me realise that mental health issues are very much *serious business* - and that it is essential to be truly thankful for the help (professional and from friends) that I receive in dealing with my own issues.
To anyone struggling with their mental health, my deepest sympathy and empathy go to you
