One Year & Over Part 40
FG so sorry to hear of your friend and how sad for his children. So many people have comorbidity issues with addiction, it seems drugs and alcohol can be self medication. Also having hidden for so long from my own issues in drink, it took real guts and an empathic therapist to confront my past unhappiness and problems. Worst is, because it is all in the past, if we can learn to let go, forgive (ourselves or others) and seek help for our mental health in the same way we do our physical help, there is a way around most problems. Poor guy.
yes flying by again! Got a lot of travelling to do today either side of the viewings, mostly tonight about 500 miles in all and 5 houses to view sandwiched in the middle. First day threw up some surprises, we like 2 but they each miss specific criteria by one important factor. - though because our criteria is a little fluid and there is the X factor to consider, it is a toug call for any agent to know what to suggest. Though they all seem impressed with the choices we have made ourselves in our research! Off to drive on the wrong side of the road!! ( much safer by broomstick!)

FG, sorry for your loss. Sometimes we forget this addiction stuff can be a matter of life and death.
Since Sassy already beat me to Terrific, I'll wish ya'll a Tolerable Tuesday instead!

FG - I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend.
Today I'm 2 1/2 years sober. I am so glad I have time to pause and reflect on how fortunate I am to be sober today. It's been a long road! I hadn't "lost everything" when I stopped drinking. My family and job were still intact. After years of ignoring or glossing over my problems with drinking, I had to really dig deep to find the courage to start talking about it. I am unbelievably grateful to the people I met on SR for helping me find my voice. Toots, Saskia, Drake, Dee, and Carlos, plus DG, Courage, SoberLeigh, Gilmer, Casinva, Lulu and countless others including all of you who listened, shared their stories, and encouraged me along the way.
I'm learning to replace the type a driven fear and anger with peace and serenity. Work has been busy but today I am off to enjoy a wonderful day that sobriety offers. Im taking the kids to a much anticipated trip to the amusement park before they go back to school.
Have a great day everyone!

Woo Hoo, so happy for you, Glee. We have been on an amazing journey together, my sober bestie. We've had the pleasure of sharing so much about recovery, in various ways. I think that day in Manhattan with the company of 10,000 dressed like Santa, acting crrraaazzzyyy - bar hopping, while we weaved our way to 3 powerful AA meetings in such storied venues, will be one I will never forget! CONGRATS on the 30!
