Class of March 2016 Support Part 12
You're pulling out all the crazy emoticons this morning, Applekat! I don't do emoticons but I love that the Squidward one here is named "Dee". Oh what the heck--an emoticon once every 52 days won't hurt me, right?
EDIT: Ha! You were typing your emoticon post just as I was typing mine. Jinx!

You guys are funny. I have never liked using emoticons or "lol" but my daughters told me people can't read when I am being sarcastic. So, I try to insert them on occasion. Chances are, if I say it out loud, it's sarcastic. Or type it.

Ever heard of the woman who thought LOL meant "lots of love"? She texted her daughter "grandma is dead, LOL" or something like that.
Gotta take DS to the ER, he fell off his bike today and hurt his knee, and even though it's just bruised and a bit swollen, I would like a doctor's opinion.

I was on a forum once where some people didn't understand it when I was ironic, so I had to type all ironic comments in red.

That's what I thought too, I don't feel qualified to say that he's going to be OK. (He was so sweet when he called me and asked if I could pick him up, he kept apologizing for inconveniencing me. Then I had to tell him that when a mother hears that her child is in pain, she drops everything to help them.)
Fabela, good luck with your son. Glad you're getting him checked out. Better safe than sorry.
My DIL broke her ankle last weekend sliding down a bouncy-house slide with her 3-year old. How does that happen? She had to have emergency surgery the next day. I feel bad for her... now she'll be in a cast most of the summer.
Casey, Congrats on 52 days!! That's awesome. Now I'm only 50 days behind you. Keeping track that way will make it easier for me to remember... I'm old ya know.
Jemma... Good for you on staying sober through this difficult time. You're in my thoughts. Stay strong.
Starting Day #2 here. I made it through Day #1 (with the help of Dole dark chocolate covered frozen strawberries)... Yum... they were pretty good. I'll most likely finish off the box tonight.
Hope all of you have a safe and sober Tuesday! Love to all.

Checking in on day 3. Feeling ok today. I've been noticing how commercials, music, emails affect my emotions and my thinking. I noticed that I romanticize drinking alcohol when I see these things. Commercials w people socializing and having fun. Songs about drinking and having fun. Groupons offering discounts on wine tasting, beer tasting-fun! Today I reminded myself that it's really not like that for me. It starts out fun but ends up bad. I don't remember anything when I've had too much so I don't remember people I meet. I tried to remind myself that for me the aftermath is devastating and so taxing on me physically, emotionally and mentally. I have to change my thoughts and emotions about this by thinking about what would follow for me. It's not fun and not romantic.
I recently learned that Meyers-Brigg personality study was enormously helpful in recognizing why that was. My personality is kind of built on emotions. Recognizing how I'm built has been very helpful in controlling my reactions. My emotions can get the better of me, and if I'm not careful, have me reaching for a drink.
If anyone wants to look into this subject or want to take a test, here's a pretty good one:

Once you know your type, the write ups on that website are interesting.
Have fun if you're into this! I did get a lot out of this introspection.

Thanks for the link, Lillian. That was fun.
Rah - I feel the same way. Watching someone in a movie or on TV casually have that glass of wine -my glass of wine wouldn't be casual though. or just a glass.
