Three weeks today!

I felt like crap today - awful pms, sorry if that's tmi! - but I kept it together. No binging! I actually dragged myself back to the gym for a little workout which I think helped me feel a bit better. Happy to be sober and binge-free!

Some juicy milestones being passed here, well-done, folks!
Day 17 for me. I'm pleased that my several days of headaches came to an end, also that last night I slept from 11pm to 7.30am which felt really good.
Best wishes to all, take care

And we are moving to a new bigger town in the summer if I can motivate my wife to do it. On the coast in the south of France where we live. In a tiny village inland now so I am struggling to find any work and with not drinking I think a job is the next logical step. What are your plans for the future ?
Hey stevepearce- our plans are similar! Family & close friends for support, check in to SR every day, work on my physical and mental health, continue to identify my triggers and learn how to live peacefully with them, resume my career and live every day to the fullest, knowing Sobriety is now the only path for me. Thanks for asking

Best wishes and Let's Do This!!

Charlie-Welcome back Glad to hear that you’re still sober and doing ok… I also do everything to excess and have been binging on all types of crap sweets since I quit drinking..It will pass hopefully x
Olivia- My sponsor right now is taking me through my “life story” and what has led me to this point. She has 38 years sober so I’m extremely lucky that she put her hand up to sponsor me at my first AA meeting. We are slowly working through the steps. She wants me to concentrate on the first 3 steps every morning before work, and read some of the books. Basically she’s my encouragement, and my butt kicker if need be! She has told me numerous times that if I need to call her at 2am then that’s what I do… She’s also trying to make sure that I am not carrying any major resentments towards anyone (ex-husbands etc!!!) as this can interfere with my recovery.. She’s a bag of tricks !!! One thing that she does keep repeating to me is the emphasis on the fact that this is a VERY progressive disease, and that at the rate my drinking has increased during previous relapses, that I may not have another recovery in me…… That’s not a nice thought.
Bandicoot- Yes it was a close call with the store being closed. I would hate to think what I would have put my boys through again if I had taken another drink. They really are praying that I will stay sober now…They’ve had enough alcoholic mum moments in their lives so enough is enough. It’s unnerved me a little as I had always heard that before you relapse you will have signs or thoughts prior to drinking. I can honestly say that I had ZERO. I was driving out for some milk and ended up arriving at the bottle shop..It was THAT quick. We all need to keep our guard up…. Because I’m now at 30 days so you’d think the worst of it would have passed by now but clearly not.
Meshelly- Might be the time to sit the Darling Hubby down and actually explain to him how important your sobriety is to you, and maybe a weekend at a casino is not the best idea for right now. I’m sure his intentions are beautiful, but he may not understand that this could sabotage how far you’ve come. You’re doing really well xx 40 days is amazing!!!
Lulu- I find it hard looking at photos of myself from a few years ago. Almost 30kg lighter and my face looks soooo much younger. I also used to think I was fat and never good enough.. How silly we were… We have started a new chapter now, and the new US will be FABULOUS!!! Good luck on your job interview!! Sounds like you’ve got a great chance if you’ve got your final interview. Sending all the luck in the world xxx
M1A1- Like others have said- get straight back on this wagon! We are all here for you. The good thing about SR is we are all around the world so chances are that one of us is always around for support if needed!! Use us up!!!! If you’re struggling come on and post. I was advised once before to get the app, which I did. You can then access SR from your phone if you’re struggling. Sending hugs xx
Zeebs- So glad you’re feeling better .. Well done on 26 wonderful days x
Thumpa- Hope your headaches ease soon. Are you drinking enough water hun? Maybe a Powerade/Gatorade or something may help if it’s a little bit of dehydration? Sending hugs
Sandy- Isn’t it true how time just zooms by when we are drunk constantly!! I just turned 38 last month so I would like to appreciate every single day from now on!!! I’m sooo glad that you decided not to have that drink with Hubby… For us-it’s just not possible. I really admire all of you who still have Partners who are drinking. I’m divorced so don’t have that to contend with… You guys must have some bloody good willpower!!!
Huge well done on 16 days!! Keep going chick x x
MAV- You sound like you’re about to have a similar week to me with a lot of temptation around you.. Dee posted a great link on one of my previous posts about social events and how to manage them ( I think it was aimed mainly for Thanksgiving but I got some great ideas).. Good on you for being prepared to admit to your Friends why you can’t drink. I wish I was as courageous. Maybe with time... 40 days is a great achievement…. Hope your headaches clear soon…. Xx
Pedro- Great going on Day 40!! Fantastic work! Keep going!!!
Strongbird- Aww sorry you’re feeling so yucky today, but good on you for still going to the gym. That’s a great commitment!!! You’re doing great! Xxx
Caramel- Congratulations on 17 days!!! And yayyy to sleeping right through the night. Sleep deprivation is awful. Hope you continue to get lots of restful nights x
Dee- Thanks for everything you do for all of us. You're seriously the best xx
Sunflower- A day for yourself to a movie sounds PERFECT.. I might do that this weekend if I feel like I need a break. I've never been to the movies alone-I love new experiences... Be kind to yourself xxxx

Hope everyone else is also having a great day- Sorry if I missed anyone... Only have time to scroll a few pages back. I've been pretty slack on staying close to SR myself as doing so many meetings etc, but this page is such an important part of my recovery too.

Congrats to the milestones, welcome to the newly joined Jan class members, glad to hear from folks who've been too busy to post lately but are trucking along, "good on ya" for those who slipped and got back on track, and empathy and wishes for tomorrow to be an easier day for those struggling with an especially trying time right now.

Day... 26, I think, for me. Glad I had a sober super bowl as I needed to be up a few hours early today to prep a staff training and make some headway on a late project. I'm tired and feeling some work stress but generally doing good.

Regarding Mav's preparedness to tell his friends, so far I've told several, and in addition to the support I've received, I feel a sense of accountability that I can, and have, leaned on with tough times.

A true friend will have your back.

I told everyone because I didn't want any bolt holes to run to, plus I was pretty obviously an alcoholic by the end.

I'm not sure I'd tell everyone if I had to go through that again tho - I worried some close friends and family somewhat needlessly as I was really on the way getting better by the time I told them.

You gotta find your own way I think ?

Hi everyone. Another sober day here. Max at the crèche. Ruben at school. So a bit of me time, after I've done my cleaning obviously. Broached the subject of when we are going to move with my wife this morning and we agreed to put the house on the market in March. I can't wait it's always been a dream of mine to live by the sea. And Sete, where we are moving to, is and old fishing town on the med coast. One thing I have noticed, my interaction with other, I'm learning how to do it again. Sometimes I think I think people are Mis interpreting the emotion behind what I say. I can be joking and they think I'm not and visa versa. Strange ? Anyway have a great day everyone. Congrats on your sober time.
