You don't have to drink it L. It's not going to help you in the long run.

Was going to reply to another message on the older thread. I don't blame you for taking a drink now but if at all possible make it 1 and 1 only and then get back in the game.

No doubt you're going through a heck of a lot at the moment and the whole world is piling in but drinking really won't help. I was thinking.., if you were looking for a ray of sunshine in amongst the crap being thrown at you, wouldn't being sober be that ray?

Take care.

(Ps. Don't ever feel like you can't post/vent/rant/whine/cry here... We're all in it together. )

I'm sorry to see some of us struggling. If there's one piece of advice I can give it's to post here first.

Look at the Cravings thread for help, and look at the recovery plans thread for ideas there too.

If anyone wants the links again let me know.

I drank again and gain cos I thought I was the general manager of the universe - but I also felt I was a fraud in that position - so I drank to cope, and I drank to try and forget my shame anger and fear when I couldn't fix stuff.

Drinking didn't help me cope and it solved nothing.

The time you spend in looking to find other healthier ways to deal with 'stuff' will be time really really well spent guys

Looked at it for a bit. Smelled it. Made a decision. A small win is a win. Threw it all out. Attitude adjustment is what I'm a needin.
Made lunches for work this week, hot bath and I feel a bit better. Wife's out running around after work. Says she can't come home and sit.
I wish so much that I could help her.
Guys want to "fix" stuff .
I did recaulk the bathtub, and replaced a faulty shower knob.

Different decisions lead to different outcomes

No disrespect intended MAV but one drink is not OK, IMO.
It's the first drink that starts the madness, not the last few.

Awesome, excellent work.

Just keep doing what you're doing and be there for her.

Day 23
Hope everyone who is really struggling hangs in there.. Don't take that first drink. It's harder every time to get back..
I've woken very un- nerved after another very vivid dream of me drinking. That's 2 nights in a row now. Anyway I'm sober and here's to another great day xx

My kids know they're moms sad. My 7yr old is putting little " treasure" around where she'll find it and make happy. He's serious buisness about it too. Lol.
I just want her to get home safe.
Depression is terrible. Hers is just crushing. Since her dad passed jan 11, it's gotten a tad better but just overwhelmed us this weekend.
I can't wait to goto work and just get exhausted so I come home and crash after dealing with the boys.

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well.
Keeping those struggling in my thoughts. I am glad you poured the drink out JL.

I am feeling better since having drank over the weekend. I am looking forward to spending February sober. This last time, the drinking caused me physical pain and I know I have to stop.

We are supposed to have a winter storm with blizzard conditions starting tonight through most of tomorrow. Nothing like the recent east coast storm but 8-12 inches of snow and a lot of wind. My snow blower guy is not responding to my texts so I might be clearing my drive myself. I have a good snow blower I just don't like to do it when it is so windy. I can never get the wind direction right and it always ends up blowing back in my face. One of these days I will figure it out

Have a great week everyone

Hi Caramel
Thanks~ Yes, her name is Rayne and she will be two years old on Wednesday. I will have had her 1 year on 2/13/16 so I missed the first year of her life. She came from a rescue in LA that has a show on Animal Planet. She is a great dog, very calm & laid back and she loves my cats. Not the best watch dog, but that's ok. Sorry, more information that you wanted I am sure I can talk forever and a day about my dog and cats.

JL, great job dumping that drink. I’m sorry life is so demanding right now, it will get better, trust me. At 53, I’ve been through all the ups and downs of marriage, relationships, children, family, deaths, marriages, divorces, and suicide. As hard as it feels right now, for you and your wife, time will heal and you will move forward. Now is the time for you to take care of yourself, so that you will be there for your family when they need you to lean on. Drinking just isn’t an option any longer.

I think it is wonderful that you noticed the nice things your son is doing to try and cheer up your wife. They will notice the things that you do too. Stay strong JL, you have a great family, something you should be proud of!

Pedro, please don't ever think that you are not worthy of contributing here, whether it be advice, experience, or support. We all have real life stories that others can learn from when experiences are shared.

I hope your day is going well, and that February has gotten off to a good start!
