I am currently on day two and feeling great. I have also quit cigarettes after advice from my dentist. Have cravings for both, but am replacing with healthy snacks and cups of tea.
I was on two bottles a night or about eight cans of lager. I have started AA this week, and after the first meeting I went and bought a bottle probably because of all the chatting about booze (albeit in a negative context). However after last nights meeting, I've gone the opposite way.

This is great. I'm also trying to quit cigarettes but these cravings are not easy. I commend you on your efforts.

You've come to the right place. There's tons of support here.
PS. I'm really starting to hate smoking but the cravings are ludicrous.

try this Allen Carr video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G74v...QjoXCjfdXD9DAS
He'll make you look at the cravings in a different way........the nicotine will only stay in your body for three days. Only three days. The way he puts it is when you feel a craving it's the little nicotine monster scratching at you to get his fix....
but after you put out your final cigarette, those little cravings or scratchings is a reminder that the little monster is dying out. 3 days thats it....
actually the video is quite good as it kind of explains all adiction.
shakes will taste much better

My problem last week was struggling with indecision......about some life decisions and I believe it was my inability to sit or settle this feeling that led to cravings and a downward spiral....
I'm beginning to think addictions come from a failure to feel...
If I could go back I would ask myself:
what am I feeling? and
why am I feeling it?
I resisted the feelings.......resist and it persists
I needed to feal to heal
hey I'm making up my own clichés.......

For all life's problems and dramas...."I'll put the kettle on..." ah when life was simpler
Too late for coffee where I'm at....tea it is....although probably the wrong choice.....green tea has caffeine......oh well
