As I was reading the Dead lyric, I was thinking: very Dylanesque for me, in terms of likable incomprehensibility. Congrats on the anniversary, Zero! St. Stephens. Carry on.
Just read a meme quote from a friend on my Facebook page, which I like:
"If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete." Old Mr. Buddha strikes again.

On Thile, I'm sure many who are much better than I'll ever be say the same thing... It's interesting to note that my interest in mando music came a couple decades ago when I happened to hear David Grisman. I should have started this 30 years ago...
Okay, xmas funny - or mysterious waves...
I was listening to Dylan music on youtube the day before xmas and got to thinking that I don't have any and it would be nice to just spend a day listening to Dylan around the house.
Day after xmas, at my sister's place, my other sister handed me a gift that appeared to be music CDs. I said, let me guess, you got me a collection of Bob Dylan music. I open the present and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a collection of Bob Dylan music... do do do do, do do do do... We never talked about Dylan or expressed interest in him. She just saw it and thought I might like it.
Currently listening to a CSN hits CD I was gifted. Also got a Neil Young CD that contains all obscure cuts. Interesting that out of the blue I get these...
Happy Week into the New Year!

And yeah, Dead or Robert Hunter lyrics can have that nonsensical, imagist quality...
So, I'm back on the sugar wagon today. Let myself go for the run-up to Christmas and time to get healthy again. Hope y'all are well...

I usually downed a few BEFORE going out so people would think I was drinking moderately, you know, like I only had a couple at the party. They musta thought I was a lightweight, which I kinda always was, but whatever. Now, I'm the ultimate lightweight and a cheap date, to boot.
yep, drink before you go out, leave early and drink when no-one is watching...
enough of that...
ah, the NY cd I got was a bunch of live recordings with the Bluenotes, a bluesy thing he did a few years back.
well zero, looks like we got 2 years now, officially today for me... getting ready for my third sober NYE - first one I was in a rehab, I guess it counts...
I imagine it will be just another night watching movies with MrsLB - the exciting life we lead...

I thought about it yesterday. Two years IS a long time in the scheme of things. It hadn't really occurred to me when I posted it.
The celebration with my wife was short lived. I asked her if she knew what it was. She said, "December 28." BUt do you KNOW what day this is? Not even a clue...
I told her it was the second anniversary of my not drinking. She said, "Congratulations. Now start sending out your resume." Her joy lasted about a minute...

I am hoping that all of you will be mindful during the last couple days of the 'year'. If you are still struggling with overcoming the desire to drink, have a plan in place to get you away from situations that will tempt you.
Let's all go into the 'new year' sober.
I already 'celebrated' the new year when I picked up a new calendar.

Not concerned about alcohol, thanks. Oddly, I've had a hankerin' for weed or psychedelics, but they're easy enough to resist, especially if I am driving from the shows I'll be seeing this weekend. NYE is likely to be home with the wife. Not really interested in amateur night.

I have great hopes that 2016 goes excruciatingly slowly. Well, bad choice of descriptor. But, I do hope that '16 does not fly as quickly as '15 did. Chill out, I want to tell the clock. All the best wishes for the world this coming year. "Wine is abundant in Spain". I heard this line on my wife's Spanish instruction tape on a drive this afternoon. Then, the instructor parsed the line out in Spanish. The word that has stuck with me is 'abundance', (not wine). I wish for abundance in all the good spheres for this world in '16 (food, kindness, health, etc..). After all: why not dream? Cheers, all.
