Welcome Alaina!

Hi 1step. It's always a pleasure when you drop in and let us know how you're doing.

I just got back to Cali yesterday from 3 weeks in the pacific NW. The boy took me to a wonderful restaurant in Carmel to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. It was a great day!

Only 4 days until I leave for my trip - first stop Morocco. Lot's to do, and I am about to face plant on my pillow. Thinking of you guys. Scanning the Feb 15 thread helped me to vividly see a window into where we were 2 years ago.

Sweet Dreams.

Hi everyone,

1step it's good to see you again, please stop by often to let us know how you're doing.

Serene- it must be so much fun traveling here and there and everywhere. I love Carmel and the entire stretch of Cali. Erich and I had dinner there once at a really great little Italian place on a road trip. Congrats on your 1 year anniversary!

V- hi =)

Little Clark is a TON of work but the best thing to ever happen to us. Took a few weeks to get into our rhythm but I'm finally starting to feel human again. Love you all xoxo

It's pretty amazing to be in a rhythm so quickly mel.
So glad to hear that all is going well. Hopefully, you will post more pics of Clark soon.

Love to you, Clark and Erich.

Hi everyone, been thinking about you guys

Things are going pretty well. Clark has had some oral procedures done because he couldn't eat quite right, also seeing some specialists to try and get us back on track. It's been stressful but just trying to take It as it comes, one day at a time. Hmmm wonder where I learned how to do that? The journey of sobriety really has been one of my greatest teachers.

Xoxo, M

Just seeing how everyone is doing.

Had a few unexpected thoughts about drinking lately, especially after rough days when the baby cries a lot and when my inlaws were in town sipping wine and eating olives and cheese at sunset. I will not drink but the thoughts took me off guard. Two years later and it still creeps up.

In other news the baby is the love of my life. It's been so fascinating watching him change day to day. Such a crazy life change!

Hi Mel -

I'm so happy to hear that you are getting along quite well!

I just came across your NO letter today - It was, and continues to be helpful for me when a craving creeps up. Speaking of creeps - I now think of them as zombie cravings - because they come up from the dead.

I'm currently traveling. Not much internet.

Morocco was amazing - desert was in bloom while snow covered the mountains behind it.
Egypt is disappointing - I would rank it as my least favorite place I've visited. But hey, someplace has to be last. They really don't take care of their treasures and you are always on scam alert with aggressive touts.

Off to Jordan in 2 days to see Petra, etc.

Hugs!!!

Also Mel - I don't need to tell you that adjusting to being a mom is such a big transformation - lots of change, lots of demands, lots of responsibility, little sleep. This would all be sources of stress that can trigger a craving.

I have heard that it is also easy to lose yourself and ignore your own needs. Perhaps the craving is a signal that you need something for you that might have slipped through he cracks with all of change. iE not getting yoga, etc. it might take a little experimentation to figure out a new balance of what getting your needs met looks like with your new responsibilities - but it will be worth it.

Do you know what might be the underlying reason for the craving - and what you might adjust to enhance your resilience?

sending you a big hug!!!! Rooting for you and inspired by you!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your trip Serene love, and massive love and hugs to you mel.
I can just hear you laughing at trying to fit in yoga at this point though. But Serene has a point; it is really important to steal a few minutes of you time every day...

Wow, how cool to see our little februarian thread on page one!!

Mel, it's lively to hear about your new little man. Clark is a great name! My grandmothers last name was Clarke, that whole side of the family is good people. I hope his eating is sorted.

V, always lovely to see you, anywhere.

Serene, the boy took you to Carmel for first anniversary? He's a keeper! Thanks for keeping us posted on your adventures, amazing!

Soberwolf, thanks and happy Easter to you!

Well things are pretty good in wehavland. I don't go to aa often, but I sure went to get my two year chip!

My partner and I set the wedding date, may 30. I stuck the invites in the mail today, so now it's super real! Oh yeah, guess we should tell the minister which beach now, lol.

Getting a little overwhelmed with getting ready to marry, my partner has anxiety issues so even though she asked me, she's freaking out. Last couple of weekends have been tough but when she's in her "right mind," she's happy and ready. I just have to remember that when the hard to hear stuff comes out.

I get cravings very rarely, but when I do they are kind of strong. "Zombie cravings," I love that name serene!!

wehav my love ~ I am SO prod of you!!! And so happy for you. Hopefully J will become less anxious. Pre-wedding jitters create a lot of stress I imagine. But it is all going to be OK.

Serene- I love your description of morocco, I've always wanted to see the pyramids but heard negative things about Egypt that will probably prevent me from ever visiting. You're def right about needing to do my yoga. I gained a ton of weight during pregnancy and need to feel myself again. I took a class last Tuesday and am going again tomorrow. I think the zombie drinking thoughts are connected to wanting to escape for a little while. Don't get me wrong; I love my baby so much but when he cries hours on end (mainly due to surgery pain, and formula making him sick) i just want a break. I remember visiting my friends who had a baby, and at the end of a long day we had a few drinks and It felt like such a reward for a job well done. I need not focus on that memory and remind myself that I never want my son to see me drunk.
Hope the rest of your trip goes well!

Wehav, congrats girl- I know the wedding stress game- was in your spot this time last year. I hope it's a lovely day and congrats on collecting your two year chip.

V- I did chuckle at the thought of fitting anything extra into my day. how have you been love? I hope all is well xo

I have not heard great things about Egypt either, but then I am Jewish, so it's not exactly somewhere that's at the top of my list to visit. I had one bad scare in Arab territory many years ago when I travelled. I'm sure the pyramids would be awesome to see...but I did the Google tour last year. That will have to be it for me.

Serene is one smart cookie huh? She was spot on about the yoga. Glad you are getting back into it mel. And poor sweet baby having to deal with pain from surgery at his tender age. Luckily he has one very together mum (and dad, I'm sure).

Things are much the same for me. Dad is getting worse and worse, and then he gets better again. It is really hard. And very draining. I thought I was in deep trouble with money, but I have had a little help. So I'm very blessed. I am still looking for a FT job.

My gorgeous fat cat is happy though, so that's good.
