Sunshine after the storm ~ Weekenders 25 - 28 February 2022
Watching 'The Red Shoes', with Robert Helpmann, a South Aussie..who faced his own struggles. Avoiding news. Grateful to live where I does. Antidepressant med change..ugh...oh well, deferred study to sort my mental health out.
Hi PJ,
I remember that film well. I hope your med change helps matters. I've recently had an add-on medication to my existing anti-depressant, and I think it's helping and so far, anyway, free of side-effects. Hope that happens with you. Yes, I'm grateful to live where I do. I had to turn off the news this morning.

Love the Mission Impossible squirrel. They are very smart little critters.
Mags, I think the words for 80s and 90s I can't spell them but here they are.
Centenarians, seniors, and other words for old people

Another stunner of a morning but very chilly! Got an appointment at the hospital on Wednesday, after the initial shock of the news feeling quite scared now. Things have gone so well this year, got a job I love finally, some security and things were really looking up. Anyhow, trying to find the motivation to clean the house as it’s a bit of a mess and sure if I can get that done will feel a bit better. Hope everyone has a wonderful sober Saturday x
Good Morning Weekenders
It's a busy Saturday morning for me. I've got the washing in the machine, housework to do and then some shopping. Back home for something to eat and then I'm heading out for a nice walk. Then it's football on TV and a nice lazy afternoon and evening.
Take care all.

Morning all, waking up sober on Saturday morning has not lost it's appeal.
I'm keeping my fingers and everything else crossed for you MantaLady.
I hope you can chill out this evening PJ.
I have been a Sexagenarian since August 2020 although I gotta say there's not a whole lot of Sex involved.
Mags, I had never heard of a Manchester tart* until your post. I just Googled them, they look delicious. I want one now.
*A couple of rude answers involving barmaids at the Rovers Return did come to mind but I am a gentleman.

You're better of being a vegetarian Sao, at least then you get lots of veg!
Manta, thinking of you.
Mags sounds like a good shopping trip to the market. I had never seen a Manchester tart either, looks yummy. I'm always hungry since I stopped drinking.
I'm not feeling great today, I had a busy day yesterday so need a rest today. Unfortunately the dogs have other ideas.

Hello Weekenders,
MantaLady, I'm glad you have your appointment soon and that you can hopefully be assisted with a plan of action.
Saou, "Manchester Tart" tee hee! I used to be an avid Corrie fan, but haven't watched it in 15 or more years. I really liked Vera Duckworth and even yet, sometimes when I get wound up, I can hear her voice saying "Don't worry"! (better than the AV). My sister sent me the set of Coronation St. stamps at my request. I'm thinking of having them framed in some fashion.
Mags, "lazy" and "cooking" don't go together in my book! I find cooking for entertaining (not that I do much) a bit stressful. Enjoy your afternoon!

Yes the Manchester tart was very nice! I’ve wanted to make it but never have. Only £2 to buy for a ‘side plate size’ plate. I did share it with Mr. Mags.
Leshar I watched coronation street from being a kid up to about twenty years ago. I remember the actors from way back then. Once a bloke drove in the petrol station I worked in and I thought it was a neighbour, he looked so familiar and friendly. Turned out to be Mike Baldwin..aka Johnny Briggs. Real nice guy.

I saw Barbara Knox aka Rita once at a fan event in the early 90s in Toronto. I was awestruck. I got her signature on a Corrie postcard. Was it Hailey and Roy who used to just have orange juice in The Rovers?
I used to think, what's the point of going to a pub if you're not drinking booze? Have juice at home!
Some years ago I was in a city street and noticed a middle-aged couple standing staring at me, nudging each other.
Finally the man called out, Excuse me, aren't you [name forgotten]?
I don't watch tv, so the name meant nothing to me, and I must have looked very blank, so he said, From Coronation Street?
No, I said.
Oh... Are you sure you're not her? he said.
Surreal...
(I did check the character out later and there was a faint resemblance, not enough to accost someone on the street about though!)
