9/11/01--I was getting ready for work when I turned on the news and heard about the first plane. Saw the second plane. I grabbed an old, semi-portable B&W television set that we had and took it to work with me, kept it hooked up in the lobby all day. So most of my flashback images of that day are in black and white.

2001 was the year I discovered bar drinking and thought I'd found where I belonged in life so of course as soon as work was over I ran to my regular bar and spent the rest of the night getting drunk and saying the same things over and over again about the awful events of that day. I vaguely remember ending up at someone's house party after the bar closed.

Wishing everyone a safe and sober Friday. Thanks for being here and for keeping me sober one more day.

Mesa, that is stunning scenery. Lucky you.

Sky is clouding over again. It'll rain off and on all day. I'm thinking I may make beef stew this weekend. Looking for red wine subs for cooking.

I was out in the sticks when the towers were hit. There was no mobile signal and I played music instead of listening to the radio, consequently I was the last person in the country to hear about it - wife and kids couldn't believe I hadn't heard

Left work a bit early this evening - everyone seems to be p*****g me off today (is it them or me?). Hopefully a spot of Crazy Golf will put me right, it usually does

Incidentally, in a Freudian typo Trees said Ruby World Cup ( s/b Rugby). I have decided that the Ruby World Cup would be consist of various ice cream flavours. They would go head to head and Ruby would taste both and decide which flavour went through to the next round

I was thinking beef stew also. I think red wine and balsamic vinegar make ok red wine subs. I googled it once and that's what I recall. Or you could get some N/A wine. I tried some once and it wasn't great to drink but for cooking would probably work fine.

MLD, I was thinking grape juice with red wine vinegar. I don't think I could buy non alcoholic wine. On principle

Sao, I saw that and was wondering. I'm not familiar with Australian sporting events or cups so it could have been the Ruby Classic. But rugby makes more sense. I'll judge the ice cream contest. I had coffee flavored with chocolate chunks in it. That was good.

I've never seen that Ben & Jerry's flavor, Bimini. The coffee/chocolate one yesterday is Ben & Jerry. Got it at Target, on sale

Beautiful photo Mesa! I love that fence too.

The Ruby Whirled Cup! I love it!

I went for a walk this morning just to explore . Usually when I walk I'm on a mission, but not today. It was nice. I even went down to the creek and saw two ducks swimming around. I need to refill my hummingbird feeders.

Okay, so "Ruby's Whirled Cup" ice cream would be...Vanilla with Strawberry whirls with Dark Chocolate chunks. Maybe some peanuts or almonds or something.

It would have to be red, i.e. "Ruby" - no?

Elizabeth333 on The Big Plan today. Feeling grateful that I still have a few brain cells left and a job to go to that I had lost a few years back due to drinking. They have taken me back and I plan to do my best for them (and myself). Thank you for listening!

I was in a class...someone came in and said a plane hit the world Trade Center and we thought he was joking at first. Just unimaginable.

Great pic MM! I miss it out west. But I can't complain too much where I'm at now. Although I do wish it would get cooler. Cold front coming though and we should only get up to 88 tomorrow!
water pic 2.jpg

14 years ago, I was driving into work listening to the radio. Went to an office next to mine with a TV when I got in. I just remember going numb, and not able to comprehend what was going on.

I had to have the annual talk with my 10 year old son today on what this date means...we can never forget.

Try pomegranate juice as a red wine sub. The acidity can be tempered if needed.

I was going to do a cooking Sunday as it was to be gloomy. I was thinking a nice boiled dinner. Corned beef and cabbage with taters and carrots. I can go to the farmers market early tomorrow and get the freshest stuff.
