Thanks, Nonsensical. Your signature line, "People who can control their drinking don't have a voice in their head telling them they can" makes sooooooo much sense to me. I keep repeating it to myself for strength.

Nice one, Trach! If you want to send me one, I will pm my address to you. Hint, hint.

That is how it all started Aarry. A few weekends ago, I begged and begged for people to send me postcards, I collect postcards. I got a PO Box and everything. Some very generous folks have taken time to send them to me. And I am pretty sure more are on the way. It would be nice to have one from you, even though you live right around the corner! Let me know, I will pm my address to you too!

Work is done for the week!!!
I think with this heat wave I have plans to go to the beach tomorrow and then a family birthday party on Sunday. And I am hoping for some sleep as well. It is hard to sleep when it is so hot out.

Hope everyone is doing well!!

And here is another one from Mecanix. I think he is the one on the beach in the lower left corner.

Olive, that one was sent to me and is on my fridge. When I get to traveling again, I'll get that PO box.

Count me in for a sober weekend.

After all the years of hangovers on Sat-Mon morning it is great to wake up on Saturday with the knowledge that I will actually accomplish something during the day besides feeding the addiction.

Amazing how much I have fixed in my 4 months of sobriety.

Headed for a bubble bath with mint sparkling water and a splash of cranberry!

I have a 5K race at 8:30 AM tomorrow! Last year the night before this race...well...I had drank a bit of wine. I'm hoping to shave a bit of time off tomorrow.

Just over 2 years ago I'd have still been at a bar in my work clothes, plenty of money down the drain and on my way to a train wreck of a weekend. Tonight, I watched the clouds line up to take their turn on the merry-go-round...happy sober Friday night folks!

Welcome tonib,

My first suggestion is to make sure all alcohol is out of the house. I know it's almost second nature to keep the stuff there and it's a security blanket - but get rid of it. My second suggestion is to stay close to SR and read all the posts, they'll be coming in a mile per minute tonight and you'll get some good support. Post and ask questions, many here can help!

Batty patty, just grab whatever seat is open. For the rides of your lives!

On the magic bus:

Or, you could choose being pursued by aliens:

All these bus images were running in my head. Home for the night. My kids were supposed to be overnight at my parents but my daughter wanted to be with mommy. Poor kid. It was pretty clear I wasn't happy about it. Sigh. Again, I missed my meeting because she is going through six year old separation anxiety. She is at least in bed. I need my meetings and I'm not getting them.

Rides of your lives? I think I'm distracted. Son stayed at my parents but I still can't go to a meeting and leave my daughter at home. Mr. Ruby is in bed since he starts work at 2 a.m. Daughter would get nervous.

Nice pic Big Sombrero. You know, you just have one one those names we can't shorten on here.

Olive, I love all the post card photos. They are awesome.

Tonib, welcome and hang in there. Day one, first weekend? Take it easy on yourself. Drink a lot of water. Eat some ice cream. Post here if you are struggling. Go to bed early and get rest. Go for a walk. Make plans not involving places which serve alcohol or remind you of alcohol. Be kind to yourself.

I'm going to get myself some ice cream. And watch some tv.

We are firm believers in the power of ice cream. Just had a nice bowl of fudge ripple myself.

I have to agree on the ice cream. Got some cones and had a vanilla/chocolate ice cream cone tonight.
