Settling with your Past wrongdoing
Wondering the best way to deal with all that?
I took care of that when I committed to
working and living AA's 12 Steps.

They give exact directions on living guilt free
how to be of service and joy filled....

The best amends I know of are living amends.
Showing others you are sincere by actions
goes a long way in re-building relationships.

While applying "The Golden Rule" is a start
I just dom't know of a short cut
on settleing past alcohol induced misdeeds.

I suppose T.S. quit drinking during tax season, as well. Either way, I'm part of this class. Today is my fourth day without drinking.

UBC.....

AA Step 9 is the amends step.
Our book....12 Steps & 12 Traditions
explains in depth about amend making.

Before you get to 9....you have 1-8 to work
if you are interested in AA recovery.

That's why I said....
I just dom't know of a short cut
on settleing past alcohol induced misdeeds.
]Settling with your Past wrongdoing
Wondering the best way to deal with all that?
Steps 4 & 5 were how I did that....
before I got into 9.

Of course...not everyone is interested in AA
and there are other ways to win over alcohol.

I'm simply sharing my experience with recovery..
All my best as you find your way.

First day of sobriety April 13th, 2010. Feel like crap from the withdrawals.
Wife is going to drop me off at a meeting in a few.

Thanks. I haven't had any problems, really. I've gone a few days to a week without drinking quite a few times with no ill effects. I suffer from depression and anxiety, however, so if there were light symptoms, I may have mistaken them for what I deal with all the time, anyway.

For me, the big thing is to get myself into the habit of being a non-drinker, again. I quit for a year about two years ago, then fell back into it on New Years, figuring "Hey, it's been a year, right?" It was the only year in recent memory where I wasn't constantly making myself miserable stressing about quitting drinking and not feeling like I could rely on myself to follow through. I figure if I can get back into that mindset, I can stay off it for good this time.

Welcome to the April group

Welcome to SR, Rev and Dean. When I showed up here , Least sent me this message:

" Congrats on deciding to stop drinking. Stopping now means eliminating that huge pile of risk from drinking. All the bad things that can happen WON'T happen if you stop now."

Makes even more sense to me now ; on day 11 ....

Started to feel ahellava lot better a few days ago

Peace, Mark

Hmm Mary Rita
Alcohol Dependence Syndrome.....

I do know Syndrome is a group of synptoms
but I'm unawware of what Alcohol Dependence Syndrome is.

Maybe call him back for clarification or Google?

Well done on your sober time....

First Full Week

Well, I've made it to day 8 and other than seasonal allergies killing me, I am doing well. Definitely had some beer thoughts, but have made good decisions. Cans of sparkling water seem to help too. My wife is very supportive and that helps temendously. Evenings are about family time, playing with my daughter, reading, and talking. BIG change from the past, which you have all been through, so no need to relive that. Waking up in the morning not wondering what I did and said the night before is a much bigger relief than I anticipated. It definately motivates me to wake up that way the next day.
Good luck today and make good choices.

Dean....
Drink a lot of water....Gatorade and Ensure are good too.
I found Lifesavers...and other hard candy useful for shakes.
Cut out or way back on caffeine ...that helps too.
Be gentle with yourself.....rest if you can't sleep.
Warm showers and baths are relaxing....

Remember...this can be your final de tox

Did you make it to that meeting you mentioned?

Hugs to everyone. Today is day 15 for me.
Had my second counselling session with my fiance and it's going ok.
I watched a movie last night called "Shrink" with Kevin Spacey, holy crap, talk about addiction issues in this movie! I felt happy that I don't have to feel that way anymore.

I lost weight too! I guess not drinking a magnum of wine every day or so really cuts back on the calories. people are asking me "what's your secret?" LMAO!
