guess I fit in here. on day 3. luckily i'm really busy with my kids in sports so that distracts me. good to be sober while watching them play ball. i can actually remember what happened the next day.

kyb5....Glad you joined our April thread....

I found drinking oodles of water helped to
rid my brain and body of alcohol.
Gatorade and Ensure are good for getting
back in physical balance.

All my best to you and your family

I was thinking back on my alcohol use over the years, kinda viewing things through the knowledge I've gained talking to you guys, reading about alcoholism, and so on, and I kinda startled myself. Denial is a powerful thing, apparently. I've felt so helpless the last 20 years, and never realized the role alcohol played in that. I really drank alot more than I gave myself credit for. Alot more. For example, about 10 years ago, I homebrewed, making 5 gallons of beer every weekend. That's like 2 cases of beer (high alcohol content, the way I liked it) a week, and I found room for it. Yet I didn't think I was an alcoholic.

It's funny how being honest with yourself about just one thing can change the entire world.

Wishing I knew more easy ways to relax without alcohol. Lots of the time I just feel physically uncomfortable & wish I just had a hypo full of AHHHHH. Just saying.

Maybe I should marry a massage therapist.

Maybe we could come up with a phrase for our class of April 2010;
any ideas ?

Mine will be; " WE'RE NOT GOING TO DRINK IF OUR ASSES FALL OFF"

Sometimes in AA...that's considered a new pair of glasses.
In fact...it's the title of a book by an AA member
"A New Pair of Glasses" by Chuck C.

I remember you are a reader....
Yes! you are winning over alcohol.....

Feels great to be a part of this group. Will try to think of a motto that I can add to suggestions.

Gee Bob....
That's awfully drastic
I'd try Google ...see what relaxation music they have first.

For me....it's violin concertos or Chopin.
Walking also helps me. As do bubble baths + scented candles.
Yes! men do take bubble baths .

Well done on your sober time....

Well, double digits today, the big 10. Strange days is such a small amount of time, yet I also feel quite proud. Most of us would know, the first 10 days are pretty brutal and seem wayyyy longer than the actual time. I suppose my anxiety and procasination are starting to lift a little, but I would like it to be quicker.
Anyways, go April class! Seems like lots of great progress being made out there.

As for a name, April class, We are the Season of Change?

I think we'd all like it to be quicker Marlow

I figured I'd spent years drinking, so it stood to reason it might take a bit of time for my body and mind to heal

It happened anyway - at its own pace

Hey we got several people for the month.
Just thought it would be nice to have everyone just check in. Know how you are doing and in there are any problems or struggles.
I am starting day 10, I really do not like counting the days. Things have gotten a lot better for me after about the 7th day I believe. Struggled with a lot of anxiety and depression. Had the shakes and no appetite. I have gotten to several meetings. And done a lot of talking to my wife and sponsor.
What I need to do- Get to meetings everyday. Have missed a few. Redo my step homework Steps 2 and 3. Continue to give thanks through out the day.
Have a lot more but thinks this might be a good start.

Hey guys,

Day 4 here. I feel a little better today and know all too well that is a dangerous place to be.

Todays plan- Work then meet with my sponsor no matter how tired I am.

Simple plan that I can and will stick to.

Back to day 2 for me.

I’ve had several slips since I started here, but the sober time between drinking is getting longer. I view it like a toddler learning to walk. He falls down a few times, but gets better with practice until he is running easily. Hopefully, I’m getting close to the running phase. I do need to quit drinking this poison.

I appreciate the support here. Thanks to you all.
