Hey, Sim!!! What a pleasant surprise; I knew you were lurking around someplace, I'm happy to see your post. Another Yankee Mayfly to get my American references!

And I still don't have anything interesting to report...yawn...

But I promise to post nothing more often, to keep our thread on the front page, at the very least. Can't have us disappearing into the archives, now, can we?

So, yeah, it's, like, Monday...so...let's not drink today!

ps: the dog is still alive

Just popping by with a night-night hug for you all. Well the girls had theirs so I'm in a huggy type mood!
I won't bore you with my tales of housework, Christmas shopping, cake-eating marathons in bed etc etc......yet! Oh yes we are due a proper catch up be warned!

So why does 4am seem perfectly suitable for getting up when I have nothing to do, but 6am to make a 9am appointment seem brutally early? Answer: the promise of a nap...

None for me today; we're having an eight-hour class at 9:00, Working with Dementia, which I assume refers to our clients and not us...although...

I'm embarrassed to think how long it's been since I put in a full eight-hour day of anything! Such a lazy old fart am I.

My dog is staring at me and wagging her tail furiously. Could be dementia, or she needs to pee...dammit, I just sat down! Grumble bitch moan, stupid dog and her stupid bladder...

Okay then -- happy sober Tuesday, y'all...

Oh Arp that muist have been a long day for you. I couldn't sleep last night and was still watching telly at 1am. Then at 5am calling from mum's room, she fell again and flat on her face. She's 89 and the poor girl has bruises all over her face. Her cheek is black and the size of an egg. But apparently she's fine, no pain at all. Gosh, why are old folks so stubborn?

Camery, have you started your new job yet? Are they looking to hire more? Yep, it looks like my contract is coming to an end just before x-mas. I had a feeling it would and I'm glad and sad at the same time. That's why I had my friends Ben & Jerry over tonight. Yummy.

Have you had snow yet? We had sleet today, lets hope it won't turn into snow.
Lady Gaga and her friends are ok but I've started feeding them in the mornings so they are used to it when the weather turns.

Jo, I can't wait to hear about your cake eating marathon in bed, please do tell us.

Have a sober Wednesday Mayflies X

Hi everyone! Glad to have you back Sim!!!! YEAH!
I am here, started my new job, and I love it, the commute ( 50 miles one way) is killin me tho. We've looked at some places closer tho, so hopefully one pans out.
Other than that, nothing new here. Back to the grind. Feels good tho!

I will catch up later this evening. Gotta get myself together this morning!

Well, my class was slightly less boring and simplistic than most training we receive; and we got paid; and I can go online, take a followup test, and receive a certification as a Dementia Care Specialist, which I will probably do. It might be helpful when looking for private-pay clients, they don't need to know how silly the course was!

Then there was jury duty yesterday (you can get away with calling in sick to jury duty once, and they'll just sign you back up for the next round.) Again, I'll be paid a stipend for my time, and mileage to the courthouse and back, and I was dismissed after only a couple of hours, so it was manageable. Pity the first seven called up front: they got selected for a trial in December. When the accused in the second trial decided to cop a plea, the rest of us were excused. Boy, that group of sad, bored jury candidates really perked up when we heard we could leave! It was like Christmas came early...

So, yeah, quite a flurry of activity for me this week! I missed at least two naps.

Happy Saturday friends!
Long but great first week! What a refreshing group of people, I am thrilled. We found a house, and we move December 15th! So, it is game on to pack, clean, find movers, etc. Ya'll know the drill. It sucks, but it seems to be how I roll these days!
I am excited, stressed, and anxious all at once. If that isn't an AV trigger I don't know what is............ but I will NOT drink!

Hope you are all doing well! I will check in later, cuz I am sure I will need a break..............

Hey Cam, I'm so pleased for you that you like the job :-) Good luck with the move!

I've got 3 weeks left on my contract. It'll be nice to chill out over xmas, It'll give me time to finish moving house and then I can start the job hunt again in the new year. Just had another clear out and while the rain stays away I started a good bonfire.

Jo, you're a busy super mum, happy birthday to Mel and fingers crossed for the Giants.

Arp, Cam, Dee, Jo, Sim, Caramel, Toot, Ben and everyone reading here...
A happy and sober first advent to you all.

Evening everyone!
Oh Camery I am with you on the hoarding front! I dread to think what it'd be like for us to move house! 3 women in one house = clutter city believe me!
Back to just the 4 of us now my parents went back today. I really do have quite a small house so it's a squeeze when they stay. But hey check us out we did another load of Christmas shopping, put the tree up, cooked a lovely roast dinner and watched the Giants win again! What a day! I must admit I'm pretty tired. I really do want to enjoy this Christmas. Somehow find that fine line where I am ready and organized but can sit back and relax too. I'm very all or nothing so it will be a challenge. Most important thing of course is to stay sober. It is still very much the most important thing in my life. Sounds a little selfish but it's true. Without that we all suffer not just me.
Better get moving again want to get a few jobs done before I collapse on the sofa for a couple of hours. Have a lovely day everyone xxx

Evening everyone. I've had a very strange week. I think I've neglected my well-being somewhat and am allowing myself to get carried away stressing about things and it's getting me down. It's the same for everyone this time of year I'm sure but if I'm not careful I'll have a flip out and that wouldn't be good at all.
It should be my works Christmas trip to Edinburgh tomorrow. One night there and back Saturday afternoon. Found out today there is a train strike on Saturday and after much deliberation I've decided not to go. Honestly I can't really say if it's the right thing to do but I'm relying on childcare and if I get stuck it'd be terrible so that's it I'm staying home. Good thing is I can get caught up on my preparations and rest up a little. I just wish I could be a little more care-free and go have fun like the others but I'm just not there yet. So I'm now feeling a little sorry for myself (and in reality could just pack a bag and go) but I'll put it behind me and make the most of a quiet weekend. God knows I need it!
How is everyone doing?
Arp I think we may get some snow too. Mind you in the UK the whole country grinds to a halt after a couple of flakes! Especially here in hilly West Yorkshire - we're super wimpy!
Elke - if you get bored at all I have a load of clutter too! You must be feeling very virtuous doing all that sorting out. Good for the soul I believe!
Camery - how's the job and the move? Goodness from one extreme to another!
Ben!
Sim!
Tootiesdad!
Dee!
