Happy Thursday!

Scooter, you post made me laugh! Oh, this things we used to do!!

Pink, talk about head high and smiling baby! Yes! I am quite certain you inspired your friend more than you know.

Posting from my own bed this morning, big coffee in hand. Life is good, I was apprehensive about my meetings and presentations this week. Glad they are over. Foot doctor tomorrow. I hope I am healing properly as I have not been following doctors advice at all! I am a little nervous.

Just read a great recovery book by a girl named amber tozer. It is called sober stick figure. Quite good and very funny, I read it on my plane rides this week.

Rock this wonderful day guys!

Pink, I love your story about your old friend, and I hope seeing you made him think about sobriety.

There is one old friend that I rarely see now and another that I probably see three or four times a year - that were close old drinking buddies when I worked, and I saw at least twice a month after I retired. I prefer to think it is because we now have so little in common with them still practicing, but the old funny work stories are just not as funny sober as they were after a few drinks. Both of these women have high profile positions, and both are extremely heavy drinkers, and most likely alcoholic.

It is very hard for me to believe we are coming up to the two year mark. Sometimes it seems like a week or two, and at other times I feel I have been sober for years, but the best times are when I don't think of it at all! At this point when my av comes calling and I shoo it out, I consider it normal. I believe normal drinkers occasionally crave a beer or a glass of wine or whatever.

I am seconding Pink's urge for everyone to check in.

Let's keep on keeping on.

I checking in!

It's been hectic and I'll give a full report when some things come to pass. I'm a planner and it's strange having a couple of things up in the air. All is good though.

Let's keep it up

Happy Sunday kids!

Off to the gym with my big corrective boot on! Kale smoothie in hand. My son and I pimped up my boot with skulls and skateboard stickers. Good fun stuff.

Better to wear it out than rust it out.

Greetings!

I just got in from an unexpected weekend in New York. A business associate gave Bob tickets to the Red Sox / Yankees games on Fridays and Saturdays, so on a whim we flew down. Good fun, sober weekend for me - good, fun, not so sober weekend for him.

London? Choobie? Please drop a line to let us know how you are.

Let' s keep on keeping on.

Hello guys and girls

I haven't checked in for a while as I have been to Greece for 10 days. Last minute holiday spent doing some island hopping! So fortunate to have these opportunties now. It was so so hot though. But loved every minute. Really switched off and recharged my batteries. A couple of texts home and that was it.

How's everyone doing? Really hoping all good

Love the summer themed posts and especially love everyone having fun now in life and getting on with things

Away off to work today feeling refreshed and looks like I brought the hot sun back with me 😀

Hey hey hey happy Monday!

Awesome scooter, last minute trips are fun. I am certain you are not regretting staying sober my friend!

Great to hear from you London! Wow dude!! Talk about a cool trip! Are you able to post pics? I was in Santorini a few years back, breathtaking. I have a few pics from that trip hanging in my office. Keep checking in, we were worrying about you young man!

Pink, your seeking sounds super relaxing. Meant to ask, how are you liking your new job now that it has been a little while?

Off to the gym and to work. On a plus side, my foot got me out of a business trip this week. Holla!! Woop woop!!

Determined, going to a game sober and staying sober throughout it is just wonderful. Unfortunately, I need to get back on the ball with exercising and I have to start watching my eating. I realized this morning that I am wiggling two more pounds than I was on Thursday, and I was not happy with the weight on Thursday!

London, so, so happy and relieved to hear from you.

Hey all!

I've contacted the race directors of a marathon and 50k for this year and asked them to donate my registration to charity / another runner. And, I've switched one marathon to a 1/2 Marathon.

There are some exciting changes on the way for me which will not give me as much time to train in the next several years. I'll still run, just not as much. Ideally I'll start running ultras again in 2018. And, I still expect to run a 50 miler by 2022 (can you tell I'm a planner?).

I'll give you all the info when things are finally flesh out- probably in about a month or so. Things are still up in the air (not particularly easy for a 'planner') but all will work out.

Relentless Forward Progress!

RFP all the way! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile- time is slipping away. Going through finals again and work is getting rather crazy. It's all good, though. I'll check in and get caught up again in a couple of days. Until then- all of my love and best wishes!!

Happy hump day peeps!

Scooter, I hear you on the exercising. It is one of those things that is easy to let slip for a while, but you can kick it right back into gear.

Change is good ultra. Try not to think about a plan and trust in the universe. Make that switch from map to compass. Very excited for you my friend.

Choobie, nail the finals. Then enjoy some down time hopefully.

Pink and London, love you guys!

Time to hobble to the gym!

Morning!
Good to see everyone! !
Choobie I imagine you are ready for a rest after all the finals! Thinking of you!

Ultra, you are so organised! ! Looking forward to hearing your news my friend xxx

Scooter what ate you reading at the moment? I've just bought the girl on the train, need to find time to read it!

London what a lovely spontaneous holiday! Very grateful for the sun you bought back, it's good to be wearing dresses again!! Glad you're all good, you had Me worried xx

Determined thanks for asking about work! It's. . ... .tough,;busy, challenging and a bit overwhelming. I'm plodding through crisis after crisis with these poorly people and often get home worried 'what if they kill themselves tonight and I'm the last clinician to see them' it's really heavy stuff. Doing my best.

My specialist degree is in its final stages. 4 weeks to deadline and I still have 2500 words to write so am panicking a bit. If I'm quiet this end I'm just a bit busy 😊

Right, off to work. Have a great day all xxx

It's Thursday babies!

Pink, your job does sound intense, but also very rewarding. You are the perfect soul for it though, I bet you are simply the brightest part of the day for each of your patients.

Trying to work through this broken foot thing is making me appreciate what some people must deal with every day. Many. Many people have disabilities they must overcome. I have a renewed appreciation for their strength. I have my focus on getting better for my Iceland trip in a month or so.

Drama at work, but with an attitude of gratitude and proper inner focus, I will rise above.

Happy Friday!

Super duper happy it is the weekend!! Hell yes!!!

No big plans this weekend, just pool with son, karate, etc.. The good stuff.

I am starting to get really pumped for winter and snowboard season coming. My absolute favorite thing for so many reasons. I love being alone at the top of a mountain, then hittin it down and just grooving and carving with the wind in my face. So zen to me. Anyhoo... Good to have something on the horizon.

I like the quote sober wolf has now, "don't stumble over something behind you."

Laugh loud kids.

Greetings!

Choobie, you sound great.

Pink, your new job is definitely high stress. We once had a colleague commit suicide and called in a team of psychologists to check on everyone in the firm. They spoke to us as a group, then individually. One of the things they said that stuck with me was, unfortunately, once a person has slammed the door on life and decided they are going to end it, there is NOTHING anyone - doctor, spouse, co-worker can do to change their minds. They have entered a different mindset that cannot be reached at that time. Hopefully you will not have to deal with that, but, PLEASE realize it is not your fault if a person has truly slammed the door on their life.

The book club is reading Empire Falls. The Girl on the Train is quite a drinking story! Please let me know what you think of it.

Ultra, you sound excited for what is ahead.

London, my neighbors just got back from three weeks in Greece, and the woman told me she thinks she sweat more than ever in her life. She said she had to shower and change her outfit at least three times every day.

Determined, I meed to thank you for today's quote. This past week I have been thinking about "what might have been," and coming down hard on myself for all the years I wasted. The quote helped snap me right out of it. We must move forward and think about what is to come.

Let's keep on keeping on.
