SP, I just read through your thread. I had Torus Mandibularis surgery in 2011 (extra bone growth in the lower jaw, under the tongue, growing inward from each side and touching). My dentist said they were the worst he had ever seen and suggested removal (new dentist, my former dentist of 20+ years never mentioned removal).

The surgery was performed outpatient under twilight sleep, believe it or not, with a chisel and what I assume was a hammer. I ended up with a few chipped teeth in the process. I had stitches all around the inner gums of my lower jaw, and released the same day. PAIN, PAIN, PAIN!!! Swollen face with bruising, and bruising down my neck and upper chest. Needless to say, I survived with hydrocodon, motrin, ice packs and ensure. As awful as it was the first few days, I was actually back to work in 2 weeks.

While your surgery was more intensive and traumatic, I just wanted to give you a heads up that it will get better in leaps and bounds soon, just hang in there!

Thanks, everyone. Awake for dinner and meds. Hopefully can go right back to sleep.

Odelle, that is good to know. Thanks for sharing.

Three doses of meds, then back to bed. It's easy to choke on some of this stuff with mouth banded shut. Always makes me tense.

I was able to eat a lot of Butternut squash soup tonight.

Feeling rested after a long nap. I hope the pain is mostly gone tomorrow. For now, jaw still aches. Lower lip is slightly less swollen. Good sign.

Hi, Potamus.

Good you are feeling rested after sleep and able to eat soup.

I hear you so mcuh about dysfunctional family and helplessness. I am from very dysfunctional family myself, and as a kid I was just a hostage of other people's cruelty. Now when I find myself in a situation when I am to any extent hepless, it immediately throws a red flag for me - Danger!

You are a strong independent woman, and I think it scared your husband the most. My ex hated me being independent, be even interrogated me after my sessions with the therapist and when I refused to talk about this accused of me hiding something from him. And so on and so far.

Your most important focus now is your recovery from surgery. As hard as it is, try to narrow your emotional focus to this. You cant change your husband and it is not your fault he behaves like this. You will deal with this later.

For now on imagines something nice, even if for 15 seconds. Ocean waves, light breeze, sun, brigtht colors.

With every minute you are getting closer to feeling better. This shall pass.

Hugs and good vibes.

.
This exactly. Yes.

Thanks, MB

Surgery is stressful enough physically, but this compounds it.

I am feeling some physical relief, barely.

I can tell I've started to improve.

I am hopeful again.

No more ibuprofen. I'm going to protect my liver. I have one last half dose of hydrocodone. Depending on how I feel when I wake up in the morning, will decide whether to get hydrocodone refill or not. Right now I've just got the half dose of hydrocodone in my system.
