Saying no really is something a lot of us have trouble with - what will people think, what excuse can I give, I don't want to reveal all or make a scene...
I just say no thank you
Do you have any /water/juice/cola/soda/tea/coffee...can be a nice diffusing follow up line too.
It got a lot easier when I realised very few people care what, or if, I drink. I thought everyone else was fixated on drinking like I was but it's not so.
Welcome back Classy - good for you for stopping it there

Almost an end to day 1. Good night all.
Glad you are here Sydney & Dah....great group here for encouragement & support
Too tired to write much, but great to see everyone posting here.
Love this Omo I have a hike planned for Christmas Day with one of my Sons & plan to "lay low" here at home New Years Eve....with a good movie & seltzer water so that when I wake up to the New Year, I will be clear headed & enjoy a walk by the river.

Love this Omo
For Christmas, I want to feel good, and grateful. For the New Year, I want to know that 2015 will be my healing year, without a single day marred by black outs, or wasted life.
Terrible. I finally went to do to doctor 2 weeks w sinus infection. Miserable. 6 yr old son went to urgent care- flu. 1.5 yr old mystery fever. Me and mommy are frustrated with each other and everything in between.
12-13-14 looks good to me for day 1 !

17 days today went to visit my mom last night and have a "girls night"... First time I saw her since thanksgiving when I got so blackout drunk I embarrassed myself and the entire family. She was awesome, she always is. She supports me 100% and if I didn't have her I know I would be in much worse shape. I've drank when I was with her for the past 10 years (she doesn't drink at all) and always started unnecessary arguments. Last night was the first time in so long I can remember being sober and just getting along with her. Such a good feeling. I can smell the breakfast she's making downstairs and I am so excited to spend some more sober quality time with her happy sober Sunday everyone!

Good morning all, day 2 for me. Leaving in a few hours for an overnight trip to the city to do some shopping with the family. Will be in touch again Monday evening. I'm going sober and coming back sober. Have a great Sunday everyone.

Day 9 - what a great class we have - I am going outside to enjoy the 50 degree day here in northern Illinois. Amazing mid-December. Last night I enjoyed a dinner out with my husband and friends at our favorite Japanese restaurant sitting at the bar - I had a great sober time even when all around were drinking. The bartender is a recovering alcoholic and we exchanged smiles. All good. We can find strength and support everywhere.
To all those that joined us yesterday - Welcome! Together we can do this with incredible support and love.
