yeah im getting parse error forum not compatible with operating system. Wrote to the tech people a few days ago.

V, I think its the people who can remember to go back to basics when things get tough that really make it through this. Proud of you.

All fixed up! Thanks tech team.

Thanks V. I'm sure you already know how much you mean to me but just in case: I love you xoxo

I'm working double time to try and get myself in shape especially so I look good in my wedding dress. I can remember a time when I didn't watch what I eat because what was the point? I was just going to sabotage myself with 600 calories of wine followed by junk food to try and make myself feel better afterwards. It's nice to be able to focus on being healthy with nothing standing in my way.

Being at that Halloween party was eye opening. People were drinking like I would have but not getting as sloppy as I would have been. I can always spot a person who has the same "thing" as me because it's a whole other level of "out of it". I really think there is a difference in the way my body processes booze compared to a normal drinker. However my radar isn't perfect: a friend who seemed fairly coherent texted me the next day, "so good to see you last night! What did we talk about?"

Why did we do that? Drink and meet up at bars and parties and have these experiences that we can barely remember. What is/was the point of that?

hi guys! I've been thread hopping and didn't realize how long it had been since I said hello. sorry about that!

serene, belated congrats on 9 months!!

venus, I hope things are looking up for you dear. big hugs headed your way.

Melissa, this time of year is right about when I relapsed last year (around T-giving too) and stayed pretty much pickled until Feb. when I came back to SR. I feel ya. on rare occasions I go to the neighborhood bar where I used to drink daily. they have concerts and my partner likes to get a beer (she can do that, get "a" beer! :-) every now and again. the bartender is cool and seems silently glad I've moved on to fizzy water with lime. but I see the same old people who I thought were my friends back in the drinking days. it's not that they are bad people, they are perfectly lovely. it's just that I've moved on (thank god) from drinking to oblivion there every night. some of them aren't as bad as I once was, some are a little worse. some still have moved on to the bar two doors down, the "real alkie bar." silly distinction, I know, but I think you all know what kind of bar i'm talking about. it seems the booze really has you when you consent to hang out in there. I ducked in there for a quick shot of tequila once. it made me realize that this had to be the end of my drinking. or else.

hope you are all doing well on your sober journeys. pretty soon, there will be more 9 month anniversaries, awesome!!

take care, wehav

hey guys...long time! really glad some of the feb 2013 are staying strong & living sober. well done! im proud of you.

guess it's pretty obvious what ive been up to.

6 months of heavy drinking, and im really feeling like my soul is being stripped from my body. Ive managed to not lose my job & am not getting blotto when i have to look after my daughter...but my relationships with family & friends are really suffering.

this is all just a bit ridiculous...again...sigh

so yip, here i am...willing to try again to get sober.

of course i wont be rejoining this class, i just wanted to see how people were doing & let people know how incredibly SUCKY falling of the wagon is...what a miserable few months i have had.

Hi everyone - Happy Halloween officially.

Very busy - about to faceplant, but wanted to say hi before I fall asleep.

V- I noticed the same thing about myself-if i don't come here its a signal that something is amiss and i'm off balance.

First sober halloween. Had a fun night dressing up at work, I went as a biker babe and looked prettttttttyyyy tough haha.

Afterwards I felt really triggered because normally I'd go hit the bars. I always got extra out of control on nights like that, "another shot? Why not it's halloween!" Instead went for my replacement vice which is Taco Bell and reality tv.

Gearing up to get through the last part of the year then we will have experienced all the seasons sober. In a lot of ways we quit at the perfect time because we have a lot of practice under out belts to get through the holidays.

Happy halloween everyone!

Excellent point Mel!! ♥
And good to see you upandup.

Love to Serene and wehav, and everyone else....

Would you believe I have another semi-crisis?
After getting a good report from the vet yesterday for little V (she has been sick again),
I lost my biggest client. So huge financial strife here....how do you spell scream?

V xx

V- Really good to hear that little v is doing better.
Dee-Glad you're feeling better too!

Upnup - great to see you.
mel - way to make different choices with a trigger. You're costume sounds awesome. I hadn't thought about the holiday, but you're right - at this point I'm fine at parties, but for the first 6 months I didn't care to socialize.

School has been a hectic transition for me - and faced a lot of triggers. I drank to relieve stress. I feel like I'm through the main adjustment now though. I ate a lot of sugar instead the first couple of weeks - now I'm not reaching for the food to compensate, and just feeling more well centered. I think it's because I have atleast one day a weekend free now.

You're doing just SO well Serene! ♥
So proud of you girl!
Glad about the no longer reaching for food thing ~ I have known a lot of people
in recovery over the years who end up with a food addiction to replace whatever
we used...it just creates more issues in our lives, I think.

Likewise coffee; I am careful not to have more than 3 coffees a day...

Anyway, glad that school is going so well!

Mel ~ I keep picturing you in that biker-chic outfit; bet you looked fantastic.
I am seeing it in my head, you all in black, some heavy eye makeup,
some leathers, maybe a cool cap to top off the look?
And some arm bangles all the way up to your shoulder and a choker with studs as well?

firstweek sweety ~ please check in.
I am worried about you.

And liss....where for art thou??????

Oh, meant to tell you all that I got a PM from PreciousKitty.
She is doing very well, and sounds happy.
I so wish she would come back to us.

Dee ~ thank you for your kind words....amazingly,
my email dinged with that post just when I was getting myself
all worried today....you have awesome timing! Much love. ♥

Hugs for all!

V xx

Serene, I don't think resorting back to our crutches and vices to handle stress if it helps us stay sober. We can always deal with the small things when were feeling stronger.

Haha V. Sounds about right minus the jewelry plus a bandana.

Kitty! Come back. I miss you.
