Mel good on you for not giving in to the beast. I drank through so many thanksgivings it was also very strange not to sneak drinks while cooking. Noticed so many "opportunities" when the old me would have ducked into a bathroom with a bottle too. Toooootally get it girl. Very proud of you. I guess we need to understand that the holidays bring back so many freaky memories, let alone family dynamics and general craziness. May we all have our first sober Christmases and New Years!

Mv, hope you are well, good to see you pop in. If you feel like chatting, this is a pretty cool crowd yes?

Liss, this is a lifelong battle. A marathon, not a sprint. A lot of cliches but true. I absolutely hate that this is a lifelong battle, but every single day you don't drink is a new victory. Here's to today's victory. And tomorrow's.

V, prayers for your papa and your sweet kitty!

Serene, you sound pretty awesome! You keep on "trudging g to happy destiny," sister!

Things are pretty good in wehavland. No drinking on the holiday so that was a pleasant first. Feeling pretty strong and the constant vigilance is less daunting and more empowering. Have a great night, folks!

They say when we don't drink for a while our alcoholism progresses anyway - from my experience I reckon that's true...when I went back to drinking it was self deconstruction city.

You can put it behind you tho liss - try not to dwell on it too much

Sorry I missed this last night liss ~ I was exhausted and went to bed.
(I just texted you )

Spent the day with dad, half at the hospital and then at the nursing home.
OMG, this leg injury is BAD...after being his carer for so many years, I could deal pretty well with the gore and all of the medical info.
My sister was, shall we say, not great.

It's going to be a long road for him to heal.
He has to have a skin graft, but there is a lot before then....as I said, it is a bad injury.
I will spare you the details.

As for V? I woke up to find she had been really sick. Not good.
Lucky I followed my instincts and stopped the medication they sent her home with....this is a side effect.

So can I say OY! I have a lot to deal with....and I need a job here.

OK...enough about me.
liss darling ~ what Dee said is true, but don't forget, after not drinking for a long time, our tolerance is lower again. Which would mean (for me, anyway) that if I started, I would get drunk fast, lose all inhibitions and have no cut-off point at all. It would be all in.

The injuries look awful love....I just thank God that you are home and recovering.
One day at a time....rebuilding is us. You can do this; we have faith in you.

Love to everyone,

V xx
