2:30pm here.

I'm not really having any trouble with cravings.. my problem right now is that I am bored, and I am finding myself lacking motivation to do anything. I've done a touch of cleaning, but other then that I have been watching videos and reading on the computer all day.

I am wondring if the lack of motivation is a form of depression.

Krodos..... I think it's a good time to be extra gentle
with yourself. Your mind and body are trying
to get back in balance just now.

You might want to try eating small meals ...6 times a day.
Cutting back on caffeine/junk food is usually a good idea.
Walking also helped me ....as did drinking lots of water.

... You too can find a healthier future.

Day 10 here.

Another sober weekend is over. But I was at work both days, so it didn´t feel so much like weekend.

At lunch time one of my co-workers told me that she was very hungry because she had skipped breakfast. I asked her why. Well, she had drunk some redwine saturday night and needed the extra sleep. Not the first time she tells me something similar unfortunately. I was thankfull that I have had a good nights sleep and a delicious breakfast with my husband. And it was wonderful to wake up and know exactly how I came to bed.

I have had trouble sleeping the last week, but tonight I fell to sleep quite easily.

Smile Thank you all

Heck, I didn't know there was a one month and under... and I oughtta live there...

Um, hi y'all. Sorry to interrupt y'alls thread... I know I graduated. But I come back to thank all y'all who helped me make 2 weeks. I made 3 tonight a couple hours ago--first time with 21 days ever.

It wasn't easy, not at all... the last week's been rough. But I'm hanging in there.

Thank y'all, and hang on in there those of y'all with less than 2 weeks still... It can be done... and most do better than I do, don't worry.

Take care,
TB.

Congrats TB, welcome Wallingford.

Krodos, I'll be honest, while I've been more productive this last week, it hasn't been dramatic, and I am spending lots of time going on the computer, and my resolution to get to the gym has so far not really worked. However, I'm going to take Carol's advice not to beat myself up too much lately. No matter what, if I'm not drinking, I'm doing better than I was.

Great to hear about your 3 weeks, TB!

Glad to hear everyone's doing well. Boredom is a tough one for me too, Krodos. The thing I have to remind myself is that drinking doesn't solve boredom. You're still watching tv, or being on the computer...doing the same things, just with a drink in your hand that'll make you feel crappy later. I think "boredom" changes over time, too. What seems like boredom at first adjusts itself to being the norm. Ha..that doesn't sound very encouraging, but I think you know what I mean.

I was thinking about when Carol posts to folks to be extra gentle with ourselves, especially in the beginning, like she did with Krodos yesterday. I just love that. Every time I read a post like that of yours, Carol, I feel myself physically relaxing...my shoulders drop...I take a deep breath...it makes me want to grab a blanket and a cup of tea. It just feels like a warm hug. I just wanted you to know that.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!!

I think for me it is a combination of a lot of things, not drinking is a big one.. but I also(on the same day) gave up playing a computer game that I have been playing for 3 years(world of warcraft for those interested) So I am kinda hit wit a HUGE void in my free time that was once filled up by those things.

Not to mention it is really cold outside, so I can't really do much out there.. top that off with some finacial troubles.. and well, you get the idea.

Still I am very proud of what I have accomplished this past week.

Side note* My wife had a drink on saturday night, I never realized you could smell it from so far away if you weren't the one drinking it.

By the time it would take to get through the whole list, JUST IMAGINE how much sober time you'd have!!!

Krodos,

I'm just thinking about loud here. My sober date is the same as yours, so I have no great wisdom here. But I do wonder if you are asking too much of yourself to give up both drinking and a major non-drinking pastime at the same time? I don't know why you are giving up WOW, and I know that games like that can be addicting in their own way. I've never had that experience, but I know others who have and its a geniune problem.

I guess what I'm thinking is, right now, giving up drinking is hard for me. I have a lot of other things I want to change my life. I want to eat better, exercise, I want to change jobs, maybe career's, I want to climb out of my shell and start having relationships again, move cities, maybe even countries. I want to tackle half the stuff on Carol's list. But I have no shot at any of that until I get sober and stay sober, so right now, I'm not going to sweat the other stuff.

So anyway, just a thought, but I wonder if it ever comes down to a point where playing WOW would help you not drink, for now maybe you should consider it? Especially if you find boredom a trigger (as do I.)

Best of luck.

thanks Malcom...made a lot of sense to me ....

Day 12 here...gosh 2 weeks is gonna be up so quickly...

After 6 mos of slip sliding away....the last 12 days have actually not been too hard and have passed super fast.

I find I have an overwhelming amount of things I "NEED" to do or "SHOULD" do....but find I really don't have anything that I would LIKE to do ...

boredom for me is not about not having something to do but not having something to enjoy....

anyhow..for now i assume those activities lay somewhere in my future...
