Grateful for hot showers. Especially the really good ones after being chilled to the bone and/or wet (for me this was always after a cold bike ride but now I just avoid the cold )
Grateful my dopamine receptors are intact. And that sometimes I use them to really, really enjoy sugar.
Grateful the cilantro in the herb bed someone started before I moved in is so well established it grows like grass AROUND the bed.
Grateful for a short commute.
Grateful I’ve been sober long enough to post in Stories of Recovery (even though I haven’t done it yet)
Grateful for the imagery and poetic timing of Caramel’s posts
Grateful that through friends I now have two one-year chips from AA even though I don’t really attend meetings.
Grateful for all the accidents I did not have.(sober or drinking).
Grateful for the kind thoughts about my kitty. It has been a couple of years since he nearly died but it struck me the other day how thankful I was for him making it and being here with us.
Grateful for this thread and all of you.

Grateful to soberly get ready for the formidable snow storm heading our way. Including the procurement of the all-important bread & milk.
If I may slip a little whine in here - I hope we don't lose our internet connection.

Grateful for the books I read as a child:
- classic children's stories that included quotes from what I now know to be beautiful poetry and literature, snippets of French and Latin, things that have enriched my mind and life;
- books with exquisitely lovely illustrations to gaze at and enter in my imagination;
- encyclopedias crammed with information;
- adventure and mystery stories, and books about animals around the world;
- humorous books that used to make me helpless with laughter and still bring me a giggle.

Grateful that my parents encouraged us to read, and read to us when we were kids.

Grateful for a good nights sleep, a deep sleep because I was tired and not drunk.
Grateful to Caramel and Least for reminding me about the joy of reading.
Grateful also for being an avid reader and for learning something everyday through reading.
Grateful to read to my grandson every night and grateful I've passed my love of books onto him.
Grateful for coffee this morning.
Grateful to be sat in front of the fire with time to post here.
Grateful to you all for being part of my journey. Thank you. x

Grateful above all else today for the love of a good friend who died a year ago today, far too young, destroyed by ALS
Grateful that in sobriety I am rediscovering reading (slowly, not what you would call avidly, but happening nonetheless)
Grateful for the space and presence of mind to not assume things with other people are about me (or at least try to)
Grateful for parentheticals
Grateful for a husband who shares some of the “mental load” and a lot of the actual load of maintaining a house, raising children, living out in the world.
Not exactly grateful I made myself get up before five for a workout, but grateful I’ll get it done early and that getting up like this is even a choice in my life.
Grateful for this group.
