Yes - very good info. Caramel - I will check them out.

Suki - Hoping your power stays on.
We had a generator but sold it when we moved to the apartment last year, never thinking we'd be buying a house. Need to replace it I guess.
My niece in Parker (near Dallas) posted their snowy yard on Fbook. They love it. I guess they only average about 1" per year - maybe have snow every 2-3 yrs.

Hope all in the path of this snowy, icy mess can stay home & safe.

Suki, freezing rain is the worst. I'm glad your power has stayed on.

Chic, I love that cartoon.

(((Suki))) I am also glad you have power and a warm house.

Our snow has stopped, at least for now, and the streets are wet, but passable. Bro told me he didn't go to work today cause his driveway was hard to get up (it's a fairly steep slope) and the roads were horrible looking. Glad he didn't chance it.

Hey all, I wish I could send you all in the Eastern US some sunshine. If it was possible I would throw a snowball at Dee and PJ as they are likely hot right now.

I'm heading into yet another afternoon of solitude. I can step outside of my feelings and see that I'm living a good life; however the downer moods are a bit of a constant for me. I do work hard to get exercise, reach out to people and practice gratitude. I just shoveled the back deck a bit; I shovel until my feet get cold and then come back inside. There is an ice cornice hanging off the roof. I discovered if I use an expansion leaf from our dining room table as a battering ram, big chunks of snow and ice come crashing down (I'm safely under the roof overhang so no worries). It does get my heart rate up and probably uses a different set of muscles than normal exercise!

Well off for some more yoga, a bit of whacking at the cornice and pull out the long neglected bodice.

Onward through freezing rain, PTSD, injured dogs, grief, grouchy teenagers, sciatica, power outages, and whatever else crazy reality throws at us!

Alpine, I hope your vet can help Riley make a full recovery. Sending hugs and prayers.

Chic I love that clip, always reminds me of Ann and Bubba.

Suze all the best with your assignments.

Suki, I hope and pray your your heating stays on and you and Riley keep warm.

Riley must be a popular dog's name. Alpine and Suki have dogs named Riley and I used to have a dog named Riley.

It's snowing again!!! The streets look snowy instead of just wet. Damn! I was hoping the snow was done!

I hope Riley’s problem proves not too serious Alpine.

You guys are trying to annoy me with this freezing rain talk, right?

We had freezing rain, then teensy ice pellets, and now the snow! May get 8', though I've seen many different forecast amounts. I called off of work today. Quiet a few of us did.
thanks Caramel, for the site. I love all things Norwegian !

Oh...ok.....so this is the ice pellets we have here. But all day, since I got up, so I can get my ice scoop out of the freezer and fill it outside....it is deep enough easily.

Mags honey.....thank you, 3 quizzes down, two assignments to go. I honestly don't understand the one I am doing right now. I don't even understand the responses of the other students who have entered theirs (it is a public discussion presentation assignment that we have to do every week). Sigh. Tired. I will leave it for today.

Love to you and your family darling Mags. xx

Those ice pellets are called sleet. They are frozen when they hit the ground and bounce. Freezing rain is much worse. It falls wet, but freezes when it hits the pavement and creates a sheet of ice. It coats tree branches and power lines, which can cause power outages.

The freezing rain we're getting now is freezing the top layer of snow and making it impossible to sweep out Billie's potty areas. I swept off the porch steps and poured table salt on them to melt the ice so I wouldn't slip taking Billie out. I took my trash bag out to the cart but had to bang on the cart cause the lid was frozen shut. I asked my neighbor in back if he'd take my trash cart out since bro won't be here this afternoon.

Took Billie out and she acted like she didn't have to pee. I insisted that she pee cause I know she has to. Kept her out there a few minutes and she finally gave in and peed. That freezing rain was coming down so no wonder she didn't want to be out there.

I am sick to death of winter!!! Only 56 more days til April 1st. Come on April...

Ours started as just rain, then turned to freezing rain for several hours. Then came the sleet, which later changed to snow. I went out to sweep off my front porch and steps and there is a layer of ice under the snow.

Thanks, Intro. It's all tolerable so long as I have heat and lights in the house. So far, the power has stayed on, but we're not out of the woods yet.
