Hey hope your dog is better StDragon! No fun having a sick four legged child!
Happy Wednesday all.
Day 75 here.
Have a potential challenge on Friday.
Going to visit a new friend who is a yoga instructor where I attend classes.
She happens to live very close to where I ride horses so am bringing my dog and having a visit on Friday afternoon.
Not super worried but know there could be an awkward moment if alcohol is offered. Am prepared to say no and ask for water or whatever else is non-alcoholic.
What do people think about sharing the struggle or just avoiding the topic and the booze with new friends?
At this stage of my life I am tired of worrying about other people's expectations
and if my sobriety makes them uncomfortable.
All my old friends know I no longer drink but how much to share with new friends?
Wondering what you all think.
Have a great day!

I slept in a bit and had good dreams last night.
Melski-You don’t have to go in depth about not drinking alcohol. Most “normal” people don’t think about it or need an explanation. I just pass and if needed say it doesn’t agree with my health. If they persist then it’s their problem and I stay away from them in the future.
Hope your pooch perks up Ringo.
A safe sober Wednesday to all.

Thanks for the well wishes, re Lady. She's on medicine next 7 days and special food until the 17lb bag is empty. I had to take a stool sample! What a loving mother will do for her baby.
Melski, "No thanks" is usually enough for most people. Might be a little different if it's someone you used to drink with.
Back when I was fairly new (under a year), I had to be humble, eat a little crow when after I said 'no thank you, not drinking right now', the other person said "Good! I was getting worried about you."

Hope Lady feels better soon and you can enjoy your vacation worry free Ringo!
Melski, if your friend is a yoga instructor, she might lead a more healthful life in general, and not offer alcohol at all. I used to carry a bottle of water with me in early sobriety when visiting people. Folks tend not to offer if you already are holding a drink. If offered a drink, a simple no thanks should suffice. Likely they will offer coffee, tea, etc as an alternative. I was always worried about it, but I seldom had to explain my non drinking, except to old drinking buddies. Most normies don't care what you are drinking. It's the alkies like us that are consumed by what everyone else is drinking.

Good morning, a good friend had a pet medical emergency last night so was up late helping her out.
Second trip to emergency this week for them.
What is it with pet emergencies this week?
The outcome is unclear but glad to be sober and able to help in whatever small way I could.
On a happier note, I have now successfully kept an orchid alive and well for almost two months.
It's blooming and very happy.
That may not like much to those with green thumbs but for me it's big lol!
Wishing you all a happy Thursday.

Imvalentine, actually, there is a 'reset button' sort of. Pg 84, BB, 2nd full paragraph contains instructions for dealing with lingering or even festering resentments.
Thanks! Our pooch is just about back to her 'old' self. Wolfing down her food and grouchy to the cats.
Awakened at 2am when Mr. Ringo got up. Just about back to sleep when his alarm clock went off at 2:10am--he forgot to turn it off when he got up. Difficulty falling back to sleep so I got up at 2:50a.m. instead of 3am.
Going to be a long day. Have a sponsee session at 5pm.

A great Friday to everyone. Hope all the pooches are better. I’m looking forward to a cooler day with rain forecast. Invited to lunch with a friend also which is always nice.
Ringo- Thank you for the nudge. I appreciate your help.

Thanks for the help all, I ran into my friend at the yoga studio and she asked me
if I would want wine at 5:30 on a Friday. I told her I don't drink at all and she was relieved as she and her family are mostly non-drinkers.
I am relieved too.
Happy Friday all.

Yes! Good news, Melski.
