24-Hour NO Nicotine/Smoking Club - Part 3
Still smoke free even though I've been slipping signing in! My apologies!
I've noticed that when I get up, it takes me hours, I mean atleast 5 hours on some occasions to put a patch on! There have been a couple times that I think, I'll just stop using them and then I say, No. They are there to help, keep going. I'm on the 14 mg now and never really felt the decrease.
I've had to quit all caffeine cold turkey due to health reason with the stomach ulcers. It seems as though I now have Barretts Esophagus and it requires a total diet overhaul for the long run or I could start growing cancer cells and set myself up for the big C word. No alcohol (I'm not a drinker anyway), No SMOKING!!! no coffee, soda, milk, chocolate, fatty foods and the like so that means back to clean eating like I did when I was body building right before Hubby's horrible accident. BTW, He's doing fantastic! So happy about that!
Alysheba~ Please tell the AV to go pound salt. It wants to trick you and you'll pay a heavy price and I don't want to see you hurt and angry at yourself because you listened to it. Take yourself to a beautiful Spring day in a field of lovely flowers and breathe deeply! That fresh air is cleansing your soul. You are on your way to being a better person without the drink the AV wants so badly! I never really understood the AV until my husband's childhood/partying friend/now pastor who married us came to the house at my request before the accident. He told us of the AV and how it would call him. He told him, it's like a phone ringing off the hook at any and all times of the day and night. He told him, the AV will stop calling, as long as you don't pick up the phone/bottle. It made perfect sense to me. I feel somewhat the same at times with the smoke. I will sit and rationalize one. Just one but it's never just one. But that voice tells me it's just one. I guess it would be some what similar to what your AV tells you. If I'm wrong, my apologies.
I hope you all are having a Merry Christmas! Hubby and I are exchanging gifts tonight as I'm working a 12 at the moment.

No smoking here, eventhough I am not signing everyday.
I do not even sign on the alcohol thread everyday anymore.
It is not the urges that will make me smoke again – it is if I get overconfident, I will try to be aware of that.
76 days of smokes and 144 days of alcohol, it does slowly add up.

No smoking for me either on this Christmas day...Santa thundered onto the roof with a bolt of lightening at 3am! I feel absolutely shattered after cooking for all the family. Think I would feel even more shattered if I had less oxygen and more carbon monoxide in my blood though....
VitaminB6 I have tried and failed to give up so many times, I really appreciate your honesty its the festive season and temptation is all around. If you are still reading this thread I would say when the time is right you will give it another go and I have read that the more times you try the more likely you are to succeed completely...think I might be well into my 20th or even 30 something time but this time I think I may of cracked it though dont want to count my chickens so I will finish off by saying that Im in for another 24 hours...

Oh Wiscober! Sorry to hear about your accident. Looks seriously painful! Wow.
Of course, I don't believe there is some monstrous judge in the sky who sends people tumbling off the stairs just because they went out to buy cigarettes. That doesn't seem like a God I could love and no one deserves your bad fortune.
As for anyone else on the thread, I hope you can conclude like me that it's been great to spend Christmas Day without cigarettes and I expect the non-smoking members of our family would heartily agree. Well done us!

How you doing Wiscober? Did you get that ankle looked at?
Nice smoke free day here. Went for a walk in the countryside with my parents and really enjoyed breathing in the clean fresh air. I tried to imagine myself lighting up a cigarette outside in the woods under the bright winter sky and it just seemed like such a horrible idea. Also, I've had a bit of a cold and that's made cough a little bit but it's absolutely nothing compared to the disgusting wheezing and coughing I had NEARLY ALL THE TIME when I was smoking ie: all the time!
