Hi weekenders - I've been having a rough few days. Over nine months of no booze. Proud of that, but the waking up and realizing what a vegetable I was for so many years has been really saddening. The real me is awake now and I have to go with that and let all the old ways drift away. Grateful I can come here to share that, as I'm pretty alone here. But in many ways that is a good thing. Forces me to reconnect with myself.

Hi, Awake!

Yes, waking up to reality is quite a test.

It's still challenging for me to leave it all behind, but I am getting bet.

Every time regrets from the past start attacking, I say "not useful".

Devizes, Congratulations, you’re doing great!

Awake, being sober really let’s us reconnect with our true self. 9+ months is great! I felt in a way like I was a metamorphosis getting sober.

So proud of myself, last night went out to celebrate a friends bday. Met before dinner at the bar in the restaurant, I had water. Had dinner and I continued with water, went to a friends afterwards where everyone else drank and I continued with water. I did not feel tempted, no cravings. I was the designated driver for my wonderful DH. Got us safely home by 10:30 pm. Thank you God! I am so excited to be feeling good this beautiful day that God has made!

Beautiful day that God has made. That's lovely, travelbug. It's Sunday morning here and it's my absolute favorite time of the week.

Devizes, I'm really happy for you and I'm happy you've landed in Weekenders. Sometimes the Eating Disorder section of this site isn't very busy but there's always posts here. As you know I have a past issue with food, too. It's a tough one; for me way tougher than alcohol but in so many ways exactly the same addiction.

Awake, I get it about the days lost. My way of dealing with that is a lot like Midnight's way: when it comes up I say, "Not helpful," and change the thought. Meditation and daily long LONG walks have both really helped with being able to do that any time that undercurrent of despair shows up. I don't allow it to take hold.

Kaily, Mags and Manta, hellllllllllllo. I guess I missed the reason behind fireworks... Poor little Andy (the dog.)

I'm glad everyone is hanging on to their sober time. It's life or death, ya know?

This saying annoys some people, but that won't stop me.

Devizes, you've got this.

Well, I did some cleaning. Found upbeat latino music which made the entire process more or less bearable.

Kaily and Mags thank you so much for your kind words.
Glad to read all the posts this morning and love and peace to anyone struggling right now.
Have a wonderful, peaceful Sunday. I should vacuum today too, but I'm not feeling too motivated. I didn't sleep too well last night. We'll see. It will get done. When you have a German Shedder, you for sure need to vacuum!
Stay safe everyone.

all.

Robbie do you really hoover and dust everyday? Does anyone else?

Well done Devizes and Travelbug.

Awake, regrets are tough to deal with, I know.

Walked many miles in the forest today. New dog was so good and kept up well for 3 hours. Not bad for a little un. She is a little Gem.

Kaily, your doggie is a Gem...You could name her Emerald. Emmy for short. Emma...Em. So many ways to play with it, like we do when we name them. I have many variations of things I call my animals even though they have "a" name.

Ruby is too cliche. Pearl could work...but it sounds stuffy.

My neighbor named her cat Diamond Lady.

...and now I'm being that annoying friend who names your animal for you.

Well, almost every day! Definitely hoover about 5 days a week. Dusting is sometimes more, sometimes less. I have a black glass TV stand that seems to attract dust so I usually run a duster over it most days. There's only only three other things in the living room that need dusting and the whole thing takes me less than 5 minutes. I must admit though I do get through a can of Mr Sheen about every two or three weeks!

I wish I could walk many miles. I think walking for about an hour (so probably about three miles) is my limit. Anything longer than that and my legs start to stiffen and ache.

Impressive cleaning Robbie!

I am aching everywhere now. I have got a hot water bottle on my back and will soon be in bed.

The river walk you mentioned yesterday, couldn't you walk the 5 miles then get the bus back?

Wow.

Just watch "Practical Magic" - such a warm beautiful movie, like a piece of emotional chocolate.

Not an easy week ahead - co-worker's issues, international meetings online, my order from Amazon is stuck at customs for some reason...

I could use some witchcraft.

And leg day tomorrow with my "favorite" exercise in terms of looking ridiculous. Though it dosn't bother me any more.

My working weight - about 150 lbs.

I could aim to do that next spring or summer. I do actually get the bus to the start of the river walk as that in itself is about 2 miles away from where I live. I normally walk about 2 or 3 miles along the river path before heading for the main roads and another bus home. I think I'll try and do the full 5 miles next year. The full river walk is much longer than 5 miles, the 5 mile segment is the part I call my "home" part. The River Wear runs from the Pennines (Weardale) through County Durham then Durham and eventually ends at the North Sea / Sunderland. Much of the course of the river is walkable as it has a series of river paths that nearly all connect together. At 60 miles in length though it is well beyond my walking abilities...

Hiya Weekenders

It’s just turned midnight here. I don’t usually see two 12 o’clock in the day. My body clock is all over the place at the moment.

Kaily, it took me ages to name one of my cats in the past and it ended up my friend giving him a name and as she was a fan of the legends of Arthur, she named him Merlin.

Robbie, sounds a nice, interesting walk along the river bank.

All this talk of hoovering and dusting is making me wanna pick up my duster and go round the room. Nah just kidding, it’s making me sleepy.

Goodnight all. Be safe. xx
