I could aim to do that next spring or summer. I do actually get the bus to the start of the river walk as that in itself is about 2 miles away from where I live. I normally walk about 2 or 3 miles along the river path before heading for the main roads and another bus home. I think I'll try and do the full 5 miles next year. The full river walk is much longer than 5 miles, the 5 mile segment is the part I call my "home" part. The River Wear runs from the Pennines (Weardale) through County Durham then Durham and eventually ends at the North Sea / Sunderland. Much of the course of the river is walkable as it has a series of river paths that nearly all connect together. At 60 miles in length though it is well beyond my walking abilities...
