Willow you are so strong! Airports are one of my biggest triggers. Fear of flying and family.... what more do I need. lol!

I'm glad to have some people to look up to on that one

Willow - Traveling and especially airport and planes related environment used to be a huge trigger for what. Like "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". Kudos to you.

Captain - Have a safe trip.

Bim - I would pass on a comment about "who likes veggies anyway". Broccoli fan here Glad you still have electricity and hope that you will get through this stormy times without much damage to your normal routines.

I've been slacking around the entire day.

When I woke up I was still in good mood - aftertaste after yesterday's great evening. Later on it changed into some bittersweetness.

Anyway, have a great sober Sunday, weekenders!

Welcome to Weekenders SIB!

Touch wood I have not had a drinking dream for a long time. Good thing too as they affect me until about lunchtime.

Wotcha making Dragon?

Glad you still have volts and ohms biminiblue

Have a good flight CaptainHaddock.

I have decided to get my bedroom walls "skimmed" or skim coated, that is several new thin layers of plaster applied in order to make the slightly lumpy bumby stuff I have already, smooth enough for paint rather than wallpaper. I will not be doing the job myself as it requires someone who knows what they are doing but I will have to do all the "prep" work. One good thing is that everywhere else is OK so it is just the one room. That should keep me out of trouble for a few days.

Young people are strange, my youngest daughter paid me a rare visit with one of her friends at lunchtime who thought it was really cool that I use black toothpaste. Naturally I kept it quiet that I did not know it was black when I purchased it (it has seaweed in it or something - gimmick probably) TBH it tastes pretty nasty.

Greetings Sunday Sojourners ~

Checkin' in here from the Arizona Desert where I'm Trailer Boondocking off-Grid at the Site seen below. Lovin' Life. Me & MesaDog have been out just under 2 Weeks, and pick up MesaMate at the Phoenix Airport late this Week. She popped over to Denver to see Elton John's Tour with a Gal Pal from primo Floor Seats up front. A ~3 Hour Show that hit on all Cylinders. I ducked into a Las Vegas Casino to see ZZ Top. Worst Sound Mix this former Sound Engineer/Bass Player has ever heard. Distorted rubbish at 115 Decibels or so from radically over-driving the P.A. Amps in a Room of ~1,500 mostly-drinking Customers. Brought my Earplugs, fortunately. I had to dodge free Booze Jello Shots thrust at me to find the Concert Venue in this massive Casino Complex, but it kept me nimble, eh?

'Tis a good time to be Sober. Always is, come to think of it. My Truck sprang a bizarre Coolant Leak after towing a wicked Utah Grade on I-70 through ancient Seabed Uplift. Add Coolant as it leaked from some mystery place. Then, no leak. Then, leak. Finally found it while a local Ford Dealership Gent and I looked intently for clues. Work done recently at a Shop resulted in a Coolant Hose not being clamped down correctly. Put on a new Hose Clamp at Sunset in a Hardware Store Parking Lot, and confidently towed down here to Roadrunner Country yesterday.

The uber-beefy Solar Power System I designed & installed on this Trailer runs everything as though I'm plugged in; save the Microwave and A/C. Don't need such luxuries, fortunately. Power stays on around here when I'm the one responsible for it.

Yeah. I'm not that well-prepared! Ha. I also don't own a weapon, so I wouldn't be boondocking alone. I'm thinking MesaDog would lick 'em to death.

Beautiful image.

Always nice to hear from you, MesaMan. Nice pic as well. I’m sure Mesadog was nothing more than a sparkle in his/her dad’s eye when someone thought of calling his own everyday trials and tribulations “a dog’s life”.

Midnight, I love reading about the developments with your not-a-date.

Vman, looks like a very nice cabinet that you made. Hope you had fun with your in-laws.

Sao, black toothpaste sounds novel to me. My guess is that it has some special whitening formula. Then again, I’ve seen black face wash making its way onto the market of late as well.

I’m away from home with work. The same case that was running and did not finish at the end of August last year when I was 3 months sober. I was here the whole of last week as well and at least got to return home for the weekend. Being basically on my own in a guesthouse is only fun for the first day or two...

Have a great Sunday (evening) Weekenders!

I was away yesterday evening through this morning, and have been reading a book on addictive thinking that identifies (so far) what the addictive mind does but hasn't come to the points on recovery yet. It's interesting but nothing really new has been covered for me. Still, it doesn't hurt to remember what people like myself do when making errors in thought. Back to spend some time with my cats in relaxation, I may watch a movie today.

Hello everyone. I'm just sitting here snowed in on day 1. We've got about six inches of snow on the ground here with more on the way so I'm probably not going to be driving much for awhile.

I hope you all are enjoying the day in whatever corner of the world you're in.

Wow mesaman what a view. I’m on the Far East coast but one day I want to do a cross country drive through the desert.
Im two weeks today, binge watching Camelot , slept very late, having coffee and muffins then gym and some work to do at home tonight. It’s good to wake up with calm. No panic, headache, anxiety, burning stomach. My dreams are strange still, anxiety ridden but not as violent as before.
Why does society feel drinking toxic substances will help us celebrate something or relax us? We poison ourselves to have fun? It’s a thought that been in my mind for awhile. Thoughts?

Get yourself a book or something for the guesthouse CH.

Guener enjoy your movie.

MesaMan you definitely get the vman gold medal for American Speak. I love reading those posts feels like being there beside you cruising down highway 141.

All the inlaws are gone home and it's time to rest the weary knees.

As the weekend draws to a close here, I feel refreshed for the work week. Not the usual Sunday blues or panic like I had after weekend benders. Nite SR ✨

I never really noticed how embeded drinking is in society untilI I stopped. It was a bit of a shock. Kinda like I never noticed how gross smoking was untiI stopped. When I quit smoking I was like the worst anti-smoking advocate out there. I literally sneered as I walked by the smoking areas, head held high. But I couldn't act like that about alcohol and get away with it. Instead I accepted that I was the one with the problem. I couldn't make everyone around me stop too. (I tried that once, it didn't go over well). The fact is I ruined it for myself and there is no going back. I've learned to live with it, and that's OK.

AGREED. I'm on day 41 and have postponed all flying until I get some more time sober. I usually fly a 5 hour flight each way once a month. I would drink before leaving the house, before boarding the plane (chugging as fast as possible), several on the plane, and one when I landed. I'm not ready to get on a plane yet. So, Willow CONGRATS! You're an airport heroine!

Happy I got through weekend #6 sober. I even broke out dancing in my house a few times! Good clean eating, lots of rest, catching up with work, and checking-in with GREAT SR!

Until the next one, fellow weekenders!

Hi everyone
Thanks for all the encouragement! I think airports and flying are one of my most difficult triggers. I really appreciate you all being here to help me through it. I came very close to having a drink on the plane and I’m beyond relieved and grateful that I didn’t. Waking up today was such a relief, knowing I didn’t succumb. Intellectually I know it would never be just one drink. However in the grip of the moment the AV can be so convincing, despite the fact that I know it’s a liar. So I’m grateful to you all for helping me through it and for your support.
Some time away is going to be so much better than it could possibly have been if I’d been drinking the whole time. Because that’s what it would have become, that cycle of drinking, hangover, drinking, hangover... Instead I can do some sightseeing and spend time with family and friends and really enjoy myself sober
