Weekender Thread 8-11 February 2019

Hi There

I'd like to welcome anyone new to SR and new to this thread.

Weekends can be a tough time -and that's what this thread is about - support.

We also share bits and pieces of our lives and the things that are important to us, or make us laugh..anything that makes the journey a little easier

If you've never jumped into a weekender thread before - no time like today...do it now!

IN!

Thanks Dee.

Congratulations on shotgun MidnightBlue.

In case anyone missed it Willow posted towards the end of last weeks thread and is OK despite all the rain in Aussiestralia. My uncle, who claims to live in the worst town in Australia for everything said more or less the same thing.

I'm off to see some old cars today.

I'm in! Morning Lovely Weekenders xx

I am really relieved you posted Willow, you have been on my mind and so happy to hear you are safe and well.

Sounds like things are moving well with your interviews Andy, what are you going to do if they offer it to you? Did you say before that you weren't that keen on the role itself?

For the day at this place I applied at they want me to do a 10 minute presentation and some pschometric testing...I hate all that sort of stuff but it's good experience so I am just going to go through with it lol

I haven't had a night out for more than 3 years but I am going out tonight to a 3 way soundclash where 3 rasta sound systems compete. I used to do this a lot many many years ago when I was a stoner and absolutely loved them. I never used to drink much, didn't have the same problem in those days with alcohol so it's not a place I associate with drinking which is good, although the weed is going to be a challenge and I have to stay strong. There are going to be a few people there from my past linked to my old life with my ex that I feel treated me badly. I am sure it's going to bring up some old feelings I will have to deal with but in a more positive way but I am up for the challenge.

I am going on my own as I don't know anyone that would want to go and don't really have any friends, just aquaintences that I am not that close to. But it's not going to stop me doing something that I know I am going to enjoy. It's about time I got myself out and danced till dawn lol.

Hope everyone is well and much love xx

This is one of the sound systems playing tonight, you can't hear the base from the speakers very well on this but I can assure you it knocks you off your feet! The guy in the yellow t-shirt is actually one of my exes from about 23 years ago lol.

Sounds like you are going to get some fun, Manta)

Willow - Sorry to hear that the area you live in is going through such an ordeal. Glad you posted and that you are safe.

I'm just back from a walk. It's a sunny day.

Have a good one, weekenders.

In again please.

I made triple digits today in my sobriety - 100 days.
Wish I could feel elated but feeling pretty down and lonely.

Wow MantlaLady that looks like some night out! Have fun.

Thanks everyone for your concern, it really means a lot to me ❤️
I’m ok, unsettled but ok. It’s been a challenging and stressful time but so many people are so much worse off than me. I’ve been anxious and worried but I’m very grateful I still have a home and I’m still sober. So many are homeless and so many are not sober. I’m very grateful to be back here on SR with all you guys, I’ve really missed you all! ❤️

Huge congrats Kaily on 100 days! Sorry your feeling downbeat, it happens but it will pass and don't be too hard on yourself. We can't be the life and soul 24/7 and try and turn the day into something positive, run a bubble bath and get some candles and some nice floaty mediatation music on...then have a super nice pamper session, get your fluffiest and comfyest pj's on, make a hot chocolate and get a netflix movie on. If your weather down in the smoke is anything like it is up north it's not exactly inspiring nor very helpful to feeling full of the joys of spring ! xx

Pfft. This is embarrassing. I'm not off to see any old cars at all - it's next week. Very professional of me.

I felt that uneaseness after 2011 Willow, even tho I was fine just the worry and the tremendous human cost, and the clean up - it was overwhelming...for awhile until things got back to normal, as they will

Remember you have support here

Had a short spat with my son last night. I'm worried about him. He does nothing all day, sits in his room, has no ambition, no plans. Apparently asking him to shovel snow is too much. He's a smart kid but is missing out on life. I can't afford to keep him here forever.

ST, I think every parent has said that same thing (in some variation) across the globe! Fingers crossed … usually they eventually find their way out of your house and into their own lives.

Manta, your pampering session sounds perfect!!!! My ideal way to de-stress.

Kaily, 100 days is absolutely amazing. Yay for you!

Happy Friday Trach, Canguy, VMan, MB, Sao, Phoenix, Willow, Dee and everyone else determined to make it through this weekend sober!

Greetings to you all, Weekenders, it's always nice to come around here for the break in the week to find I have you all beside me.

My agenda is defined for tomorrow and Sunday with plenty to do to entertain myself, my cats, my parents, and to find some rest also.

It may be a stressful day at work to enter the time ahead, but I feel I am ready for the challenge if mildly anxious.

I lift my coffee cup in salute to you.

Sao - At least you will have something to look forward to next week.

Dragon - I wish I could say something useful how to find a way to ignite some interest to life in your son's, but I have no words of wisdom, unfortunately.

Well, my not a date just called me and offered to go to a movie tomorrow.
I still wonder - is it a date?

I'm in.

congrats in 100 days Kaily. hang in there - I was still pretty wobbly at 100 days. keep doing what you're doing, it does get better.

hope you have a good night out Manta. have fun & keep yourself safe. this next interview is for a different job - one that I'd quite like - so I'll be quite pleased of I get offered it.

hang in there anyone who's having a tough time. or anyone who struggling with using a calendar.
