First real work day of 2019. I made a deal (tips gratefully received from Sao!) that I would get up early and go swimming before work. I like swimming, it’s calming and obvs good exercise. Work is an hours drive away too. So this morning got up at 5am, had boiled eggs on toast and set off to work. I am just round the corner from work, it’s 6:50am and the swimming pool is next door. Can’t believe it but I am going to actually be in the pool by 7am! Yay!!

Have a good day lovely weekenders xx

Hello Weekenders.
It's pretty cool to be in the pool at 7am Manta bravo. So it's back to work today. Bit stressed about it as the end of last year was a bit of a mess... Here we go into 2019. Got an AA meeting tonight that I will go to. Better safe than sorry.

BTW ; one month sober again today.

Later weekenders.

Congrats on a month sober, Vinny!

I've scheduled the ice-skating for tomorrow, so now I have to find something suitable to wear for this "not sure it's a date" .

My, I am so out of practice in this area)

MB, you'll have a great time … friendship or date. He's lucky to skate with you!

VMan, congrats on one month! That's a very big deal, and I'm so proud of you.

Manta, good show of commitment to head out so early for a swim! Amazing!

Purps, one of my kids played drums. Those were long, loud years!

Happy Wednesday, Weekenders! For those going back to work today after a wonderful holiday, you have my sympathy!

Wow, it is Wednesday already, gang.

Wishing everyone a great sober day!

MidnightBlue, I used to love to ice skate but then the venue where I used to skate closed and the closest lakes became unsafe for skating. I still skate in my dreams, perfectly of course . Have a great time.

Congrats on 30 days, Vman!

A WIDDLE Chiwee Wight Now ~

-4 F [-20 C] just before Sunrise, BUT a zippy Breeze brought the Wind Chill Effect to -10 F [-23 C].

Our Pasta Dinner last Night was delayed by a ~2 Hour Power Outage when someone took out a Power Pole. So, it was Candles and a Flashlight instead while listening to Streaming Music on my Phone. We hit a nice groove. I designed this Super-Insulated Joint around a ~40 Ton Solar Mass Concrete Floor cuz it coasts through such perturbations - like no heat- for a long time. Closing a few Pocket Doors and cranking up the largest Burner on the Cooktop intermittently kept us & MesaDog comfy warm.

Nuffin' yuge on NY Day besides watching The Rose Parade - which I attended back in the Stone Age - and watching fab Fireworks on-line from Sydney in HD. Did some Adult_y Chores over the past few Days, like pre-paying some Taxes, and getting the Septic Tank pumped out. I thanked Odin & Wotan for another non-negotiable Year of Sobriety. A Sober 2019 is wished for all here since - ultimately - there really is no other Free Will choice, eh?

An interesting Hymn...

I thought it was cold here in London but not compared to Colorado.

Not been home long - trains, sheesh!

Welcome to 2019

Sao, hope you finally got home despite trains' sabotage.

I've been in a state of silent panic today and feel like a total idiot.

It was years ago, like pre-sobriety years ago since I was on a date.

Even though the guy is just at good friend to me, I can't shake off the feeling that I am terrified to let someone into my world a little bit more.

I think my ex and his obsession with "knowing the truth" and involving his intelligence service friends digging into history of my family still makes it extremely hard for me to trust people.

But eff my ex . I am going to have fun.

New Year, new challenges.

Good night, weekenders.

MB ~ I have major trust issues as well.....I try to think "don't let those jerks ruin it for everyone else" ~ easier said than done, right?!? But who knows, you just might have fun!

Congrats on one month Vman!

I should probably go to a meeting, but I'm already home so I don't want to go back out there....

I don't let most people into my world any more either, MB - especially men. I keep things very light and non-committal. I don't let men come into my house, I don't go to their place alone, and I don't get in cars alone with them. My guard is definitely UP, with good reason.

Like PJ says, no rush. Most people are nice enough on a first "date."
