I think you should re-phrase this to "I simply won't slip tonight, I just won't". You have got this, play the tape forward and know you will feel such a sense of achievement when you wake up in the morning, hangover free after a beautiful evening with your boys that you can also remember! You can do this Zoey, you are stronger that you think! x

Touching post about your Nana ManatLady. I've had few good sober cries. Last time was not that long ago. Its like a good cleansing for me, I feel so much better afterwards.

Sadness. That was my whole private persona for years. I don't have a problem with sadness, we're well acquainted. I guess that comes with age and loss. I still don't go actively looking for it, though. I don't like sad movies or dark TV shows, either. I almost can't find anything to watch on Netflix anymore, it's become so dark and scary. The world has really changed, so I go watch gorillas.

Sunday morning, hangover-free. Yes, thank you. I hope everyone made it through their parties and get-togethers.

Sao, I giggled at your, "too late to Google it," because I didn't know Google had closing hours. Must be a Brit thing, eh?

First Post

Hello All

This is my first post ever at sober recovery. This is my gift to myself.

Today December 23rd, 2018 at 11:59 pm at 47 years of age it will have been 1 year since I had my last drink and drunk escapade. With God's grace and mercy this will continue.

Thanks

I'm likely the only one who cares, but you can see the little one moving - trying to get out!

It's hard work, this being born stuff.

This is about 50 minutes ago if you want to wind back the feed.

Afternoon all. Hope you are all having a good Sunday.

Quiet one for me today. Calm before the Christmas storm so to speak.

Was invited to a football match yesterday, finished as a 1-1 draw, but it was nice to be invited out.

Just to think, in sobriety, I can take up invites at the last minute now, couldn't do that even mere months ago.

Sunday Salutations!

From Sunrise yesterday comes this Snow Squall Pic I'm calling 'Elf In A Hot Tub'.

For 3 Days running, my entire Life has been about Lint. Cleaning scorched Lint and Flotsam out of the Clothes Dryer. THEN, when I put it back together, a weird new noise started. Took the Dryer apart again yesterday. In loosening the Dryer top - which was out of sight above my Head - a Bracket installed wrong Years ago at the Factory got loose, and tipped onto the Dryer Drum. All this is happening as it sat on a Jig I made out of scrap Lumber. Being a Stackable Dryer, I figgered out how to support it out in space as it sat it securely between the top of the Washer below it, and the Granite Vanity across from it that's the Guest Bath Sink. Think horizontal Ladder. The quiet Dryer is now all mo bettah.

THEN, we get Home from a Party. One of the new Heating/Cooling Registers up high on the Wall is flashing some Error Code. Not mentioned in the Ops Manual. Figgered I'd try the simple stuff first. Popped off this top-mount Filter, and it was completely blocked with really fine, weird, grey Dust of unknown origin. So, last Night capped off with me cleaning all 3 Register Filters, and resetting all Room Temps. These Units now put out so much Air, one is moving the Xmas Tree Branches in the proverbial Breeze, and gently jangling Ornaments. A good problem to have.

Sober Geezerhood at it's finest! There was Boutique Booze at this Party, and Pot - this is Colorado - but all that doesn't faze me anymore. I hung with some Sober Millennials in from Seattle, and just rolled with it while scarfing some insanely-good Food. Diet Ginger Beer for moi.

Congrats to andyh, and TheWine. Nicely done!

For Bim - our very own Princess Of Primate_ology - comes my Autobiographical Song...

~ 'Apeman' ~ The Kinks ~

Welcome to the weekenders TheWine, it took me a few more years than you to come around to the sober side. So what you do now instead of drink?

hahahahaha. Thanks for that, Mesa.

Is it wrong that I was singing along? Such profound thoughts in such a fun song.

I also love elf in a hot tub.

The first eaglet is hatched.

I'm out till tonight. No spiked eggnog will be had by me.

I'll be off shortly to play, with the club, a christmas concert at an eldery care home. I'm banking on the majority being too deaf to hear how bad we'll be. But hey, everyone has fun and that's the point.

Poops I hit submit quick reply before I finished

Going back and seeing all of you and community together is very strengthening to me .

Trying to get motivated and wrap presents for my kids… They are 18-year-old kids nonetheless . Can’t seem to get past my sadness .

Love to you all

Welcome to Weekenders TheWine and congratulations on one sober year, fantastic.

Hang in there Free2, this time of year is hard but you will be glad you got through it sober. You too Zoeydog, you can do it.

I wondered why those eagles were hatching midwinter but I guess it doesn't get cold in Florida.

I know all about soggy veg. As a kid my mum would put the Christmas sprouts on the hob about September.

Youngest daughter's birthday today (26 years) her and her friends decided to use my flat as base camp to start off the evening out. They have just left. Surprised that young people do still talk to each other face to face Surprised too that they are not angry at us oldies for messing everything up. Maybe there's hope for us yet.

I'm doing lots of small things to keep my mind either organized or rested, and it leaves me in a feeling of slight disarray. Many times I have chosen to drink over this kind of restlessness that feels like it cannot be relieved. I am not going to listen to the AV today.
