Weekender Thread 16-20 August 2018
I had an all-black cat once, many years ago. She was a stray picked up from the street, basically. I poured a lot of love and money into that cat, I loved her so. I finally had to have her put down, way before she got nearly old enough for that. She was just not healthy and kept getting awful infections. It's been a long time since I thought about her.
I have two wonderful cats now, they are my special cuddle-bunnies.

I’ve got a new friend coming to visit this weekend who is fairly new to sobriety. Please send thoughts/prayers that we would break the ice and bond well and that I would be an encouragement to her.
I’m old enough to be her mom. Hope that doesn’t put her off.

I had a lifelong not-that-great relationship with my own mother. She probably could have benefited from a surrogate/occasional daughter that wasn't me, as well.
You are already an encouragement to her. I think it is going to be great for both of you.
Gilmer I’ll bet she will be so happy to have you nearby I know I would be. I am so thankful for the women with more life experience than me, especially in the sobriety department!
My first cat was all black, his name was Fletcher. He was a really magical strange cat and I really think he chose my family. He became very close with our yellow lab, Shane, and they often sat at the window together to watch cars and people. When I started studying energy work and practicing chi qong I would often talk to him and sometimes I swear he answered! Not with words of course but with nudges and presents. I know we project on our pets a lot of personality but it is nice to think of having that bond.

Feeling a bit annoyed with myself, a little niggly minor toothache has turned into a bit of a monster ache....I mentioned it in our local shop when buying some painkillers and the lady behind the counter very helpfully mentioned that cotton wool soaked in whisky placed on the offending tooth can help. Even worse was, I actually responded with; oh yeah must try that.......NOT
Anyway painkillers will kick in soon, I hope & calling the Dentist on Monday.
Hope everyone has had a good day and that we all have a good safe weekend. SP xxx

Lovely to see all the familiar names. This is the first weekend in a long time that I know for certain I wont drink, so I feel alright about posting. I have had huge problems making a commitment to be sober.
Love to you VenusCat. Thinking of you and Nick.
Great to see you too Vman.
Gilmer....with a friend like you the girl can't go wrong......
I wish everyone a peaceful and healthy weekend. I am so grateful to be sober, no matter what is coming down the path.

Can you go for a walk or something like that Petals. Some fresh air and clear the head might be the answer.
Hope you manage the pain until Monday sweetpea.
Salutations brother Snazzy
Happy sober weekend folks.

Happy Friday Weekenders - hope everyone is doing well!
if you're not doing so well, or struggling as the end-of-the-week witching hour approaches, post up here for support. & probably some cat picture too.

Welcome to Weekenders sweetichick, I'm sorry to read about your ex but I am glad to see you here.
Sending positive vibes your way Venuscat.
Gilmer I think she is very lucky to have you as a sober mentor.
Trach, it was so windy and wet up there it was as much as I could do to stand upright, a problem I used to suffer from for different reasons. I am back in England now, in Tynesider's part of the world.
This is Dunrobin Castle in the far north of Scotland. An extraordinary place.

Oh boy...just got invited to the lake and hot springs for the weekend...a really nice resort. My son and his girlfriend's family are up there now. Had to turn it down. I would have loved to go but there is zero chance of pullng that one off sober...not yet anyway.
I think netflix is the safer option this weekend...hope you are all safe and well...
