I drank all day every day for about 10 years, every other day for about 5, then twice a week for the last 5. Sort of a reverse journey than most people I know, but I that second half was me trying and failing to quit.

I was a every day drinker from my late thirties onwards. In recent months I have been having slips approximately each month. Progress, not perfection.

In 2019 and before, every day. 2020 cut to 46% of the days. 2021 goal 2% of the days. 2021 can’t be 0% since I had drank some already. 2022 goal 0 days.

I use that phrase too to talk about my slips, BUT that’s not what the Big Book meant

That sounds like me for the past 4 years (out of 10).

I'd say six days out of seven. Those six days were drinking until I passed out. Oh how I don't miss them at all.

Daily drinker now, approximately half bottle of rum. Drink it over about 5 hours with diet coke, then crash out after eating a sandwich. Been worse, been better. I get nothing much done and have lost interest in a lot of things, which are the only reasons I want to stop drinking. Joined here recently so hoping something sticks. Spoke to the drug and alcohol people as our GPs aren't allowed to deal with drinking issues anymore in England as i was worried about just stopping drinking to which i was assured that i am fine to stop so am dragging my heels!!!

Good luck with it! I look back and wish I'd stopped a lot sooner, however it wasn't easy, and I had many unsuccessful attempts.

A pint of vodka every night chased with a couple hard seltzers. Sometimes more. The weekends were a race to see how much I could pour down my throat and how long I could passed out and completely unawake. Monday morning would come with my heart pounding out of my chest and barely able to make it into work. Hand shaking as I try to types on the key board. I’d level out by about Wednesday as I went to my “normal” amount. But I inevitably, Friday would arrive and I’d be on a river of vodka and wine. Happy to be 23 days sober today.

I drank every single day in the beginning, a LOT of times in the middle, and then again in the end.
Very grateful to be recovering, and very grateful to be here <3

At my peak, I drank 2 bottles of wine about 5- 6 nights per week, and on rare occasions, ventured into a 3rd bottle. The nights off were usually due to just feeling so green that drinking didn’t sound appealing. But boy, after a night off I was ready to party! (I threw myself a lot of lame-a$$ “parties”.)

Today is day 17 off the poison and I’m so very happy.

I've been all of them.

Whatever system I could use to justify.

At the worst of it I was a daily drinker. Mostly I would white-knuckle until I'd get home from work. There were occasions where I'd make an excuse to have a drink with lunch to keep from shaking or to counter extreme anxiety during hangover... but mostly I'd "power through" until 5 p.m. (and actually applaud myself for being "strong enough" to wait). Then I'd pace alcohol until after midnight, pass out, go to work, rinse wash repeat.

I don't miss that life *at all*

In later years I attempted moderation management, so I'd go some time w/o -- then slowly it would turn into daily drinking, and then a "bad night" and 3 day recovery, w/ no drinking for a couple weeks. Then I'd repeat THAT process over and over. That wasn't much better.

I drank every day while I could still stomach it.
Then I stopped drinking because my body couldn't take it.
Only to start drinking again once I felt better.

I drank every day. Two 7.2 beers minimum, usually 3 or 4, and sometimes 5 or 6. If not beer then two 12oz glasses of Jim Beam on ice. Not wine often, unless I was out of beer and whiskey. For awhile I would pop a beer, take a big gulp, then fill the can back to the top with whiskey so my wife would think I was just drinking 3 or 4 beers when I was really drinking that plus a nice amount of whiskey. I thought I needed alcohol to sleep. I didn't really get hangovers, just felt sluggish till noon or so. I knew I needed to stop, but I just kept drinking. I was 57 when I quit. 17 months sober. I feel pretty good. Still get an urge to drink once in a while. I "play the tape forward". I look at all the special event photos we have around the house, my daughters wedding, college graduations etc....and I know I was hungover in most of them.

At the end it was weekends only. But, it was a binge on the weekends. Which I since have learned can be just as damaging as some wine every day.

Mine varies (trying to work on it). Usually just a few days a week, but when I do it is a binge, like 12 ounces of vodka. Then sometimes I can go a few weeks without. I'm not sure if I am an alcoholic....but I definitely abuse alcohol, I do admit that.

It has varied a bit over the years.

When it wasnt every day it was 4-5 days a week. You see, if I had a couple of non drinking days I could tell myself I didnt have a problem and really go for it on the days I did drink.
