BC, sorry to hear this...I think you mean you are still drinking? I must have missed some stuff.

You know you can do it...and we know how easy it is. NOT.

Only reason I'm not right now is probably because I know I won't sleep tonight if I do.

Oh, yeah I have bird stories. Every story begins with a lot of money spent on a pretty bird and somehow always involves a dog at the end of the story.

I have to say, I don't think birds make good pets. They should be flying free, you know. In case an eagle gets hungry. Or a snake.

I know. Circle of life, tho.

So after all that cast iron skillet shenanigans, I ended up getting fish and chips instead because it's Friday here in the PNW and I was super hungry after my walk and had to stop at the store and...I have a lot of excuses. Oh, and the water in my building was shut off for part of the day. Yeah. I just wanted fish and chips.

Tetra, I don't think bed bugs are that easy to get rid of. I hope you have success with the tto.

Sao, nice shirt. I have a hat with a small US flag on it - that's the extent of my flag-wearing.

Okay... Well, any reason that keeps us from it is a good reason.
For a minute I thought this was some new kind of knock-knock joke.

I do hope you get good sleep tonight. And I also know how easy THAT is. NOT!

Hang out here, BC. You'll make it through.

You did it before, you thought it would be okay. It's not. Time to cork it again permanently and get some more support. How about AA or counseling? Really, AA meetings were great to get me out of my "poor me poor me, pour me a drink" head. That was my default setting in early days...Wahhhh. I could not stop crying, for like three weeks.

It was good to get dressed, get out and see other people who understood.

Thanks Soberwolf!

It feels great to know that I won't be waking up on a Saturday with an acute hangover, spending the day doing absolutely nothing and feeling guilty for it. Instead, hubby and I are watching movies and keeping the fireplace roaring (getting colder than a bugger here in New England).

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Well...I am exhausted. My dad had a better day, and I'm going to get rest tonight.

Good night, good people.

This is week three for me. One sad thing I'm noticing is how depressed I am... obviously I was using alcohol to mask this. A few drinks and it goes away - even the awful anxiety I got during hangovers was at least something different.

Thanks, BC, very much.

Asa, it is hard coming face to face with what is "under" all the self-medicating...
...but...
1) the drink screws with our neurotransmitters and it can take quite awhile for things to even out, even just back to what is a new normal.
2) It is possible drinking caused the depression it now appears to relieve. It is certain that drinking made the depression you now deal with deeper.
3) true depression is very treatable...if it continues, get with a qualified professional for assistance with that. The farther you are from the last drink, the more likely other treatment modes will be successful against the depression.
3 ) don't drink!!

I'm very conflicted, I was going to go out and cause trouble, but I think I had a mild allergic reaction to my body wash and now I really just want to take some benedryl and go to sleep watching Grey's Anatomy.

Listening to North American native music and trolling SR- having a blast. I hope all of you are having a wonderful, sober weekend. I know I am, and it's a whole lot better than what it would be if I was drinking. I would normally be in the starting to drink because it is 11 am and that's close enough to 12, so acceptable....... and I am hungover from yesterday....... and I am not working tomorrow......... and a host of other reasons that the drink would use as an excuse to start the whole cycle again....... yuk!!! Time to get outside and play with the kids.

Welcome to Weekenders asa and redfalcon, glad to have you with us. asa, it is tough at first but i can think of nothing more depressing than waking up on Saturday morning hungover and wondering whay I did on Friday night. Congratulations on 3 weeks.

It is a grey start to the day in London but i an hangover free and on an hour or so will be treating myself to breakfast.
