Brenda, don't feel that way. That's truly what this is about. If you're having a hard time or feeling off talk it through. That's what we are here for.

Contrary to popular belief I do not walk around with butterflies, puppies, and kittens flying around me (I hope that made you smile). We all have our days. This is the best place to vent.

Such a ridiculous image. I'm leaving it.

Will you guys chase me outta my chair? Dinner is cooked and ready to reheat later (it's 11AM) - now I need to go for my walk to earn that dinner which smells really good and which I can't have for four more hours. There are downsides to being organized.

To the walk!

I'll do your laundry. I love laundry. LOVE it. But you have to do my floors.

I like ironing too!

p.s. I'm waiting for my cast iron skillet to bake dry, that's why I'm still here...*slinks off*

Omg, I have laughed while catching up. "Can't unsee it." Gag reflexes.

I'm at the hospital with my Dad all day today. I hope I still have a job when this situation resolves. I'm staying in touch with bosses, but I'm using all my vacation. And it is only March. Sigh.

But there is nowhere on earth I would rather be than here, doing whatever I can.

My mom loves cast iron cookware, I got her a dutch oven for Xmas.. but it seems pretty unnecessarily high maintenance to me.

I may have ruined the cast iron skillet I got from my mom...that had cooked every meal of my childhood. I'd read how to use salt and soap to scour it...but I rinsed that out and DID NOT "bake it dry". Maybe I can reseason it.

There is a saying 'if you want to know the best way to do something see how a lazy person does it'. I believe there is wisdom in that.

simplicity.

I bake my own bread. It takes about 40 minutes from start to finish during which time I work on the bread for about ten minutes.

I do this about 2 times a week.

First I get a ceramic bowl that just fits in the microwave and put water in the bottom of it maybe an inch deep. Heat for 5 minutes.

Take out with a towel (hot) and stir in a couple of spoons of raw sugar or honey (I prefer honey but just ran out.). Let it cool down bit. Til I can put a finger in. Add a couple of large spoonfuls of quick yeast and stir in. Add a couple of cups of whole rye meal (I like it) and stir in. Let rise for a bit. Add more flour until the mix starts to firm up. Showel mix into microwave safe bowl/pan/dish lined with grease proof paper.

Put in microwave for 20 minutes minimum power.

As soon as 20 minutes bell goes put for 10 minutes at full power.

Take out, upend and peel off paper, leave to cool on a rack and put in fridge. Good for days. 1 small loaf lasts me about three days.

I get the whole rye meal delivered. It costs but I still save plus I know what's in the bread.

whole rye meal, water, honey, yeast - yum. (and hardly anything to clean up.)

Thank you Grymt! I don't eat much bread as i live alone and resent throwing half of itv it away.

Good to see you SoberWolf!

Talking of BA's I don't like the look of this guy one bit. He looks very shifty to me. It says "I see you" maybe that's significant.

Catch ya's all later.

Sao...cutest little penguy ever saw.
Grymt...I'm going to try your bread. Every time I ever did, it didn't rise. I never knew if I got water to hot or too cold for the yeast. From your description I must have had water too cold.
Soberwolf...nice seeing you.

BC I struggled with insomnia most of my life. once my depression and anxiety were properly treated insomnia went away. If I had not continued escalating drinking I might never had another sleepless night. Alas.

Bix, being there with your dad is the best thing. Even if it means using vacation.

Tetra, did you get the mattress thing? It really does help with a multitude of sins. My son has one on his bed. He's always spilling something despite my constant admonishments to not have liquids in his room.

The work afternoon is winding down. I have to stay later because I got here later. The morning train was having issues. My employer has been counting all our hours now. I feel like a little kid.

Daughter has been harassing me mercilessly to get her a pet rabbit. I've been trying to stall but it hasn't worked. I know for a fact that once the novelty wears off, I will be the person caring for the rabbit. I've had rabbits before. It's work.

See you all later. I'm going back to actually doing work at work. The kitten/butterfly/rainbow thing was certainly eye catching Bim.
