Hi SW.

Soooo, 2 clients canceled today, so I have the day off until school this afternoon.
Not sure what to do!! I did everything yesterday assuming I was working this morning.
I have to work tonight, but I have the day off.
Think I might just head out for a long river walk, then do some homework.

I know the word "tharn." Yep -perfect description of what happens to me in times of conflict. I'm so darn afraid of telling people who deserve it just how rude, obnoxious, or jerky they are. Then later I kick myself, because it's sure to happen again down the road because I didn't stand up for myself. I just don't trust my mouth - so afraid of saying something truly regrettable. So I stuff my feelings down and then cry later. It sux.

So with the snow coming, I'm preparing to bake and cook. Bread, granola bars, waffles to put in the freezer for quick breakfasts down the road. Pork roast for dinner tonight. I can make soup with leftover pork. Things will be fine tomorrow for getting out and about. 8-10 inches is a pain here, but they will get it all cleared out by the morning. It's when we get over a foot or so that things get truly messed up for a couple of days.

I don't know, MLD. I think it's better for me to not go off on them. It then remains their problem. In the long run I feel better about myself for not stooping to their level. Some people just like to see other people squirm. I don't see that as an admirable trait.

I left my last job because the owner was one of those and I just couldn't deal with her any more. At the end just as I was leaving, I asked her, "Are you happy now?" I mean, that was childish of me and I didn't accomplish anything by it - but I had tried other methods of getting her to back down, including talking to my supervisor and the co-owner. People are who they are. She was a really angry fearful person. Maybe that comes with the territory when you own a business that has struggled for 20 years.

Many people got into it with her - I heard them. Several people quit within a year because of her.

ALERT! WARNING WILL ROBINSON!

So I was cleaning a shotgun before I put it into storage.
There in the cabinet behind my 'gun stuff' stuck neatly in the corner out of site was a brown paper bag. Inside bag was a bottle of MD 20/20 coco something or other... it looked pretty.

I proceeded to dump it into the deep sink in the laundry room.

It has been hidden there for over two years!

Hi Della!

Hi everybody!

Had a lot of coffee in bed time today, as I don't start work til 12:30 today. But I'm driving to one of our other locations to meet everyone in the kitchen, so I hope traffic isn't bogus.

I just wanted to say hi, I hope everyone has a good day!

I popped out to Starbux for Coffee while MesaMate Schnoozed in, but especially to see Sunrise in clear Air on the austere Desert Mountains. No Pix; save this one below that brought on the giggles. The local Palm Reader has this Daily Special. Like, what, Esmeralda providing 3 Predictions would wear her out mentally vs. making 2 Predictions for $10- Clams?

Another Sign above offered Tarot, and other, Readings re: 'The Past, Present, and Future'. Now, why would I want to pay for 'predictions' about the Past? That one left me kinda baffled...

On the matter of Clairvoyance, this Story had me laughing. Be careful what you wish for...

Holding stuff in 'too much' is a Stressor that can be a Trigger. To eliminate that Outcome [Drinking], I eliminate that Input [suppressing justified Reactions]. There's a tactful way to avoid 'DoorMat_ism', and I strive to do that now in Sobriety. After taking the perfunctory, and well-advised, deep breath.

I'll let The Dixie Chicks convey my POV...

Nice work dumping the booze brain xoxo
Must've been a shock with it just staring back at you like that!!

Haha mesa, I love those little shops.
Whenever I go to LA to visit my friend; I always go to hollywood and get a ton of $10 readings.
My friend always asks why I'm wasting my money.
It might be a waste of money but its so fun!!!

Bim - I suppose you're right about not stooping to their level. I wish I could do a happy medium, though. Remain calm, and say something along the lines of "if you continue on in that tone I will turn around and walk away. We can discuss this civilly at another time if that works better for you." I can never seem to do that.

Fair question re: Palm Reading. I guess if I did, and she told me I was gonna win Big Bux across the River at the Casinos, I'd have to brave possible Parking Lot Abduction Scenarios written about earlier, and go play some Slots, eh?

Meanwhile, here's a Clip from my fav Film. Professor Marvel - Actor Frank Morgan - had a ~500 Acre Ranch East of Hollywood outside a Desert Town [Hemet CA] in my Home County; quite like where I am right now. Folks might recognize him also from 'Lassie'.

In a reminder not lost on me, he was famous for carrying around a Briefcase-sized Portable Bar. A Heart Attack took him at age 59. He sure was good at his Craft...

Ha! I don't say that, but I do walk away. Doesn't matter who it is, if it triggers my "tharn" reaction, I'm out of there. No explanation.

I did that with my ex-boss repeatedly. She would keep talking to my back. My problem was that her office and mine abutted and no one else was in that wing, so if she was anxious I was the first person with "underling" as a descriptor in her orbit.
