Tetra, go and enjoy yourself!
You have come such a long way in just a matter of months regarding the effect your mother's negativity had on you. It used to be that she had the power to devastate you--and now you can not only withstand the negativity, but even have a bit of compassion on her, because she has a problem.
Her gorillas are not your monkeys anymore! I am proud of you!

Tetra, have some fun!
I was looking at news online and say an article on Banksy's new installation in the UK. For you all in England, maybe a road trip to Wester-sur-mare for a check out? It looks rather wild.

That's Western-sur-mare
My dad is back in the hospital for a couple of days for an iv of some medication that helps the heart and breathing function of people who are seriously compromised. It always seems to be something but I hope this stuff helps as he's been miserable since he got out of the hospital last Wednesday.

Thanks Brynn.
Weas, those crab cakes look delicious. I don't eat much fish but I do like shellfish and am not allergic to it but don't buy it very often. Hard to get super fresh where I'm at.
It's supposed to get HOT here again this week. Let me see if I can finagle a couple of days off. Otherwise, I hope the heat lasts into the weekend and do a trip to the beach on Saturday or Sunday.

Tetra, time to get up and roar! I know the numb and small and quietly miserable feeling all too well. Once I started making noise of my own, things got better. Doesn't have to be loud noise, just be yourself. Which is a perfectly fine thing to be.
Bravo, BigS! I think you will be much happier.
Weasel, those crab cakes look wonderful!
I am so hungry. I will leave work soon and go home and make salmon on the grill. I have kale all prepared to saute. Some day I would love to go home and have dinner made for me....but in the meantime, I'll do it myself.

Is it still Monday?!? This has been the longest day.
Gearing up to go visit my guy tomorrow. Have y'all ever heard of a rehab that encourages family to be involved all day every day like this? Anyway....not sure what to expect but he sounds pretty good on the phone....not threatening to leave or anything. I really need to adjust my attitude about this.
I'm also realizing I don't do well on my own. I feel out of sorts and unorganized. I'll be forty in a couple of years and I don't know how to live alone!!! For all of you who've figured it out I applaud you!!

Brynn, I didn't think I would do well being on my own, but now I love it. I would not have it any other way!
I forgot I had a postcard to post!!!
I think I will wait until the next Weekenders thread, when everyone is back around.
Glad Monday is done. But what made it a spectacular day was the rain off and on all day. Perfect! I think I may have survived the summer!
Bring on Autumn!!!
Good night. Olive.

MesaMan's American West Envy (continued) ... so lovely.
Best to all the W'enders. For those going through tough times, I send you courageous wishes. Ruby, especially, my thoughts are with you during these trying times with your father and his health.

Thank you Venecia! I'm holding my own.
We all have tough times to some extent. We all have the inner fortitude to handle it, too. I just had to use fortitude. It works.
Mesa, I'm jealous. You got the hummingbird pic. Very nice. Mine doesn't hold still long enough.
Good night, Olive! We need an Irene on here

I saw a lovely movie tonight called Departures. Hilarious in parts, but riveting and poignant. I wholeheartedly recommend it. It is set in Japan. A cellist whose orchestra dissolves applies for a job with a vague description: turns out it is for an assistant funeral director. Much beauty and angst. It ends in beauty.
I loved this movie!
